It doesnt actually give AC >< The AC stat is above the trade skill description rather than below like the other stats, could that be why?

Not sure what you mean - i checked the Clone and it looks fine and more importantly, it looks fine in the Item Editor. Maybe granting AC via Drinks don't work or you reached a cap ?
