Donator weapons have exactly the same graphic as the Epic 2.0s. On Live, an Epic 2.0 weapon was suppose to be a trademark of what you have accomplished in the game, and donator weapons show that you've supported THF. Maybe to have them look slightly different might not be such a bad idea. How hard is it to change the glow to a different color?

Like for example, the warrior 2.0 retains the original red glow, while donator could have a blue glow, etc. etc. That way, a level 1 warrior who is wielding a donator weapon won't be mistaken for someone who has finished his final epic.

If this is not possible, I have another suggestion...

Unfortunately we can't just enter a number and change color of the glow, or attach an effect to a different item. Yes, custom graphics is POSSIBLE, but all graphical files stored client side - so a player, by choice can actually replace all eq graphics with Star wars theme if he likes, but no one else will know about it. Note this is NOT a trivial thing to do, and personally I never to get it to work.

There are actually not that many particle effect items - and for that I blame SOE. If I would be their lead designer, I would make an option where any type of effect/glow can be adjusted to any color and attached to ANY item base - this is how Blizzard done it with WoW. But soe being soe... is brain dead when it comes to certain things.

They added a some more particle effect weapons in SoF, but those can only been seen by those who have SoF installed, which creates another problem on a server with mixed T/SoF players.

I see, well that kinda rules it out then. Blizzard does a lot well when it comes to graphic design and style.

What about having a set of 3 graphic choices per donator weapon? I mean the first and second choice would be a different model (and different name, but same stats), and the 3rd will be the option of getting the original donator graphic if the player wishes once he has accomplished his epic 2.0? This way the 2.0 player retains the "status symbol" or sense of accomplishment and most importantly, we don't see too many people running around in 2.0s (it does bother me lol).

lets take for example, a warrior's donator weapon choices could be the following:

1.) Jagged Blade of the Warlord:


2.) Ornate Blade of the Warlord: (although this is a 2hander model)


3.) Glowing Blade of the Warlord: Epic 2.0 (can only be wielded by a warrior who finished 2.0)

Just samples The GMs/devs could present 5 choices for graphics (per class) and the community can take a poll as to which top 2 they would pick as the alternatives for each class.

yeah i would simply give donator different model. But then again - people will want weapon with particle effect - we don't have much to choose from.

As far the #1 goes- the Sword of Truth model (Seru Sword) - Lillu has been coveting it for a long time, and won't be willing of letting it go unless it comes from umm.. A Tier 25 raid Quest which takes a year to complete

Hehe yeah, the Sword of Truth graphic is killer. Anyway, those are just samples... =)
