Certain gems have no resale value?

Just curious as to why Emeralds and Peridots cannot be sold to vendors. Haven't encountered any problems with other gems, and my only guess is that these are spell components.

They are catalyst or whatever you call it, for certain spells. Those 2 in particular are sold on forest misc vendor for 0. I believe the idea is to relieve a couple of those naggy things in eqlife of certain classes, like spending ones own cash to do their group job and use spells on groupmates. .. Somethin like that. They should probably just take em off the loot tables unless the whole idea behind it changes.

They are spell components that are sold by the THF merchants for free. :-) So if you were able to sell them back for coins everyone would be crazy rich. Purchase gems for zero plat, sell for 1 plat. Give me a million please. :-P

I see. I wasn't aware they were offered for free as I have not played a class that requires them or had to use them.

Thank you for the information!

No problem, you will find them on the vendors in the starting zone. Other gems still have value though. Anything not free from the starting vendors has value.
