T8 - Evolving items

There appears to be an issue with evolving items in Halls of Honor.

Toon: Anneliese
I purchased the dagger first. I have also purchased the Mace, Tunic, Leggins, and Vambraces. Most of the points came from Symbols of the Gods. The dagger evolved in the text, however, it never actually evolved. So the latest line in chat is "Your Alloy imbued Dagger has evolved into Dark Insidious Alloy Imbued Dagger!" however she only still has the allow imbued dagger equipped. Also, none of the other items are evolving. If she turns in any more symbols or gets any more kills, she gets the points, however, the dagger is the only item evolving (in text). I did try camping her and returning, but same results.

It has been forever since I have ran HoH, however, I seem to recall that all items evolve not just one at a time.

I also purchased the mace on this toon to test and the same thing happens. In-text she gets "Your Alloy Imbued Mace has evolved into Dark Alloy Imbued Mace!", however, she still only has the first mace. I did not purchase any other additional items.

Unfortunately, there are some issues with Evolving items that have been about for some time. The whole process is extremely convoluted and would require a lot of resource to correct, something we haven't really had for a while now due to other work.

To be blunt, the whole process needs to be revamped or entirely replaced; not just because of the issues or extreme complexity of attempting to resolve bugs and issues, but also because the scripting causes a ton of lag in zone. It's on our list to do, just can't give an ETA right now.

We may have a community round table about it, because we really do need to significantly change the process and community input might be required.

I was able to recreate this and it should be fixed now. I just tried again and successfully evolved an item from alloy to dark imbued.

Next time you kill something those items should evolve ok.

I personally love the way HoH is on THF with the evolving system and would hate to see it gone :?

We won't be removing evolving items, don't worry. We will just look at how it's implemented and review other methods. The idea is to change how it works functionally as little as possible but the current method is a probable cause for some of the worst network complaints in the zone. And when you see what the server needs to compute every time a kill happens, across 24+ clients and dozens of items...

It's no wonder the zone is notorious for network issues.

Optimisation is the primary goal though. If that's possible without changing the current "per kill" calculation then that's enough for us. We think we have a solution that'll be much better to implement than the current process (which works fine most of the time but ultimately isn't optimal) so we'll try that first.

This won't be for a while yet though. If you experience any other issues in the meantime please let us know.

Sweet, it's working normally now. All items are evolving, drops the evolved item on the cursor, etc. Both with kills and Symbols.
