The Hidden Forest

So I deleted a monk I had to remake him and while deleting the char my client crashed. Now every time I attempt to log in it crashes while trying to enter the character select screen.

Any ideas? Same client works fine with my other account.

UF client.

I was able to log into test on that same account .. then tried normal again .. bar fills up before char select and it just sits there.

Gonna try and log in via titanium to see if it clears out.

ok so Titanium let me on.

If it makes a diff - The char I deleted was one of the drakkin guys.

It only stopped letting me log in after it crashed when I deleted him.

update: Logging in with Titanium seems to have unclogged the pipes

Now I can log in again with UF.. Weird

seems reproducible .. did it again hehe.

Interesting, what are the character name(s) you created and tried to delete?

ok it is 100% reproducible bug.

Char name is "Fivefinger"


If I delete a character while logged in on UF client the game crashes and will not let me back on.


The only fix/workaround I have found is to log into titanium. Create a character of same name .. then switch back and it will let me log in on UF again.


Just logged back in on Titanium to delete the character. Now UF wont let me log back in. So strange.

Keep getting memory could not be read errors.

Man the server really doesn't want me to play a drakkin hehe

I couldn't reproduce this. Here's what I did; please let me know if I missed any steps:

[1] Create Drakkin monk.
[2] Enter world.
[3] Camp.
[4] Delete Drakkin monk.

He deleted just fine, no crash, using UF client. A client crash is often, but not always, a client-side issue, so if you can help me get mine to crash I'll have a much easier time figuring out what's going on

*UPDATE*
I tried again and used /q to go linkdead and skip the camp process, then log in quickly to try to delete the character. I was seeing if trying to delete a character while they linger in the world as LD caused this bug, but alas the character is properly removed from the world during a successful login. I still cannot reproduce the bug.

hmm strange indeed.

sorry missed your tell. So now I'm thinking that maybe because the install is like 3 years old and I have changed / reinstalled OS's that it maybe a permission issue with one of the files. Going to go in and rewrite all the perms for all the files.

That character I deleted was one of the first characters I created 3 years ago .. even was wearing gear that is now level 70 to wear heh .. lots changed.

Now it crashes even when I delete the new Ikky monk I made with same name.

Ahh could be. I don't know where you keep the client files, but if they're in Program Files then that usually ends in frustration. In case you haven't done so, any non-system folder is ideal. I just made an EQ folder on the root of my ssd, get my eqclient.ini settings how I like them and lock that particular file down as read-only so that my settings don't get overwritten by the client.
