The Hidden Forest

Greetings.

After a clean install of Titanium, I extracted TheDownloader to my EQ folder (which is not in Program Files, but a custom folder on C:). I then ran TheDownloader application found in the EQ folder, the screen for The Hidden Forest came up, and after it finished patching, I pressed play.

Using my account login (not my forum login), it then went to the server screen. However, there are no servers listed, and the Play Everyquest button is dull and cannot be pressed.

I have spent a fair amount of time looking at various THF guides to resolve this. My .netframework is up to date. I altered the eqhost.text file as directed on his page: http://www.thehiddenforest.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3266, but to no avail.

There may be a step I'm missing with regards to installing, patching with TheDownloader, and so on, but after reviewing everything I can find about installing the game and patching with the THF patcher, I'm at a loss as to what I've done wrong.

I'm going to uninstall Titanium and try again, and if that doesn't work, I'm going to download the Underfoot client from one of the mirrors list on the Getting Started page (although that's a 2 hour download and I'd rather avoid that since I have a complete copy of Titanium already).

I know that the copy of Titanium I have works. I used it on another computer to install and play Project 1999, and it worked fine after patching with the P1999 files needed to login.

My apologies in advance for being new here and already seeking advice, but I'd like to try this version of EQ out this weekend and I can't seem to figure out what I've done wrong.

ETA: On the server screen, it also says 0 expansions installed, as if the expansions included in Titanium aren't being recognized. Odd.

And you created your account on the private login server? or are you using an eqemulator login account? if an existing eqemulator account, try using their login server and see if you get the same thing. Or go http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools ... ration.php and create another account for the THF private login server to test

Yes, I created an account on the private login server. I do not have an eqemulator account.

The 0 expansion message is normal, it's the way private login servers work. Can safely ignore that message.

Sounds like you did everything the way you should to start playing assuming your Titanium client is vanilla. Just for the note, there are titanium clients (packed versions mainly) that will work fine with p99 but not with other custom servers though.

Regardless, the blank server list usually indicates a connectivity issue between your client and the login server most of the time. If you search for the "blank server list" error, it's fairly common even among players using eqemu login server. Unfortunately the solution is not that obvious as common the issue is.

To do a quick troubleshoot at your end you can edit your eqhost file to point to the eqemu login server and use your eqemu account to log into THF.

Perhaps I had gremlins in the computer.

Did another clean install of Titanium, followed the directions again to patch it and so on, and the server is now showing up and allowed me to create a character and enter the game.
