UF Client Issues

I wanted to post this in regards to UF client issues I experienced when installing the linked UF client in the Getting Started section, specifically Mirror 1. I did not try Mirror 2.

First problem I noted was I was getting a "Error in your GUI XML files. Check UIErrors.txt" upon attempting to start the client after downloading, unpacking, and updating via the THF Patcher. I was using 9 Zip at the time, and Nilbog suggested unpacking the files with 7-Zip. I didn't have any more errors. Thanks Nilbog!

The second problem I had, and I've heard at least a couple of people complaining of it, was significant hitching and lag in the Forest zone - minor hitching in other zones. I experienced the same, the server was near unplayable for me.
I then found and started using a different UF client and didn't experience the hitching. However, upon further troubleshooting, I believe the hitching can be resolved easily by editing the eqclient file via the following steps:
1. Navigate to the everquest folder. Locate the eqclient.ini file.
2. Open it.
3. Replace
VertexShaders=0
with
VertexShaders=TRUE
4. Save and exit.
This solved the massive hitching I was experiencing in the forest. I hope it helps someone else. Cheers!
