The Hidden Forest

On my PC, with my group loaded, I can barely even walk through Hidden Forest.

In other zones, it is also slow and the party doesnt really keep up.

Any tips on how to get my FPS back up?

I am already running in window mode, clipping plane is off, aside from my main char. Everyone sky is off and particals are off.

I'm curious what your MQ2FPS.ini is set to, assuming you are using that. I have mine at ForegroundMaxFPS=30
BackgroundMaxFPS=15. But my laptop also has 6 cores w/ hyperthreading

Have you recently installed these clients by copying the files from another machine? or upgraded from another version (UF -> RoF) and copied across the files?

I had huge performance problems like you mention after copying across the eqclient.ini file from the old installation. Try deleting that (or moving it into another folder so you can move it back if it doesnt work) and letting the game regenerate it on startup, though you will need to redo some settings.

I was on a really old Underfoot UI when Inplayed on the server several years ago. I couldn’t see ground spawns so used the RoF client on the site.

I will check that file out S well as the other one mentioned to see if it helps.

Also I think I need to find the nosound setting as well, I do recall that helping when I played on live.

Thanks for these tips, I’ll try them. I was getting like 2-4 FPS, but in reality it just locked up until I force closes some char windows.

Make sure your shaders are on in the graphics settings or else it will severely lag out especially in forest.

Not familiar with that setting, next time I log in, I will check for it.
