Unable to log in, client crashes at loading screen....

Using the Sod client.....and out of the blue last night, I went to log back in and never could get in again. I get to where it says it's loading the game and it lingers there for a bit, and then the game closes... Not sure of how to fix it, any ideas?

Need a bit more information to troubleshoot this. Is this happening with one account/character or maybe more? Are you able to log in with a newly created character? Did you try the stuck character mover? Etc.

Check your dbg.txt log file for possible error message.

I only have one account. As soon as I select the server and click play, it lingers for a bit like it might load the game, but then crashes and gives me the error I just posted.

I think that message usually comes up when you have a resolution issue, are you running it in windows mode? and have you changed your resolution settings recently?

We've tried a few different things. We didn't switch resolutions on the display last night, plus, like mentioned previously, it works flawlessly going to the test server. That said, I did clobber the eqclient.ini (took a backup) and let the game client create a new, fresh one. That reset the game resolution to much lower, 800x600 or maybe 640x480. Still no go.

Tried running compatability mode, administrator privledges, and even forcing 640x480 (all things I saw while researching the issue earlier).

Is it possible that something happened to the link between the eqemu account and the one for your server? Shooting in the dark here.

Oh, and my account doesn't work on either of our computers, though fiance's account works on both.

I'd try letting EQ rebuild that character's .ini files. You can do this by going to your everquest folder, searching for your character name. Let's assume Freakshow.

UI_Freakshow_HiddenForest.ini
Freakshow_HiddenForest.ini

these are the files you'll find for that character. I'd cut and paste them in some other folder for safe keeping. Then fire up your EQ client and see how that goes (*note you will be stuck with the default UI until you customize it again).

Just for kicks, you can copy the contents of

UI_Freakshow_THFTEST.ini
Freakshow_THFTEST.ini

since it works, into the HiddenForest .ini for that character. I'm fairly certain your problem is contained locally. Did you set up the same UI on both yours and your fiancee's comp, or was that your first time logging on to that computer?

Removed the character ini files to attempt a recreation, client crashes right after logging in now, don't even get to the server select screen.

I don't seem to have a dbg.txt, where would that be located?

Here's why I don't think it's local files being the cause: MY account crashes both the client on his computer AND on mine. HIS account works fine on both of our computers. Weird problem, no?
