Would like to start off my stating my overwhelming support for your changes to the t8 rk1 pet dps/hp/etc. Previous to your re-tuning of these spells, they were an unmitigated disaster on all content pre-t8. I no longer have a rk1 pet so I can't parse them myself, but I have no doubt that your attention to their stats as of late brings them much more in balance and gives other non-pet DPS classes a chance to compete. Many many kudos on this change! I don't believe the rk2/3 pets needed a nerf at all (a boost imho), but I'm sure you have a vision in plan, and I'm no longer worried in the slightest :)

I also know your time is very limited, as you all have lives :) These are just suggestions, most of which have little effect on balance, but imho would improve the overall gameplay experience :)


  • [1] Did beastlord pets have any re-tuning in this latest regard? I hadn't played the poor fella in quite a while, but parsed his pet yesterday out of curiosity and he seemed just like I remembered him (roughly the same as the old Rk. 1 pets, if not superior to them in tanking ability). I understand it'd be a bit more difficult, seeing as how they only have one t8 pet spell, but not retuning said pets kind of leaves the same balance dilemma as before. The only reasonable adjustment would be to add multiple ranked pets similar to mage/necro, which would be mildly tricky (my coding expertise goes as far as [left-right-left-right-B button]. The same question/suggestion goes for the t8 SK pet (though I don't think I *EVER* parsed it due to it's rightful lack of DPS, I just use it to look cool :P)
  • [2] Seeing as how there is now a much larger gap in between the ranks of the t8 pets, is it possible (something for the backburner, of course!) to add different pet graphics for the rk2 pets similar as to how the rk3 pets are clearly distinguishable from their far inferior counterparts? :) I'd love to run around with a mini chimera or something instead of that old drab 1999 spectre :P
  • [3] HoH lag. This is something *everyone* complains about. Whenever 50-80+ players are in the zone, you can easily expect a 3-second delay in any action you take. Makes the zone fairly unplayable. I am *completely* against making it a guild-only instance, that removes the point of serverwide-teamplay, further seperates the uber from the "soon-to-be-uber", and is in general a mess. Thus, if I may be so bold, I'd like to suggest a few things that may help reduce lag:
      A: AFK timers. There are a few other servers that do this in order to reduce zone lag. If you've been stationary for 15-30 minutes or so, a pop-up appears and asks if you are still there. If "Yes" isn't clicked within a minute, it boots you to the character select.
      B: Set the minis on a completely different faction than the trash. Most point farmers simply run through the zone, ignoring minis but without knowing it, aggro them instead. And since these minis are perma-rooted, they just stand there looking angrily and sending swarms upon swarms of repopped trash at whoever they are angry at. Another sollution would be to simply not make the minis aggressive until they are *hailed*, making it clear that players are intending to attack them.
      C: Set a player limit for the zone. Say, 50 or 60 characters. If you attempt to zone into a player capped zone, you get sent into a separate instance of the zone where new players will be sent as well. Also, offer some sort of interface that would allow you to choose which of these zones you'd like to play in (so you could maintain farmage with friends/etc.)

Pets have been retuned to something that looks fine to me now (need to run couple test again but I think it's good now), at least the rk3 which are harder to get and the best pre-donor. And I can tell you I was VERY much concerned by their nerf, as I am boxing 2 necro and a shaman and an army of draekon pets.

I'm not a gm, but BST and SK pets haven't been tuned down because I think :
1) There are not many SK using SK pets and their dps suck so much.
2) There are not many BST around.
3) Both only have one rank spell.

To me, they don't need to be retuned as their existence as it is right now, is not unbalancing the game (like rk1 were, or draekon/rk2/rk3 were at the GM's taste) for reason 1 and 2. And adding rk2/rk3 to their spell list...pffff, is it really needed ?

I might be wrong though :mrgreen:

Skins for rk2 is fun I agree :) Don't think it will be made live, unless you have a specific idea of what you are looking for because Vaion is hell busy with epic 3.0 and VT hehe.

About HoH I have no idea how it is right now. I am only arriving there when I want to go to Nadox or when I die in DSK3 :mrgreen:

I'll have to think of some cool, not-over-the-top skins for rk2 pets and hope Vaion/Lillu agree :) Rk2/3 are much much much better than the start, and the progression is amazing (previously, was laughable. I think rk2 added 100dps over rk1?), but I think most people still consider them pretty darn underpowered in t8 (the rk2/3 versions, of course.) But shrug, their sandbox, their vision :P

And if the intent is to prevent t8 pets from overwhelming t1-7 content, the change should apply to beast pets as well ;( I HATE HATE HATE calling for nerfs, but just in interest of fairness and all :) SK pet is/has/and will always be a novelty, so no adjustments needed imho ;)

No to any popup windows as its to easy to MQ2 your way around it.
The zone use to be perfectly fine so one of the changes made to the zone is the cause of this issue. Is there a script that is checking conditions all the time? That's one good way to lag out a zone, I know the scripts have been extensively reworked over the last 2 years.

Yes, the afk popup is *easily* countered by a certain mq mouseup, but I'm certain there are way around that. But in the end, since Vaion seems dead determined to figure out what script is causing the issue, my point is mildly moot. (other than people who box 40 toons waiting for their boss timer to reset -_-) But I digress.

Opinions on other suggestions?

Preferably from the all-mighty Vaion and Lillu? :)

How about a mini Innoruuk for necro rogue, mini mini AoW for nec zerker, mini bazu for nec warrior, miniature girraffe on a treadmill for the monk :lol:

And since mages are more elemental based, rk2 air: erudite ghost, rk2 earth: sand warrior (similar to the ldon clicky, only 75% the size?), rk2 water: hraquis hunter, rk2 fire: one of the fire imps from doomfire. I'm pretty sure these are all global :)

Comments/complaints? =)

True you could make it harder by requiring someone answer a question in say or whatever.
I'm not knocking the ideas btw, I'm just saying I've beaten them all on several other servers.
Once you have a method in place it takes less time to update it to break the newest requirement then it takes the developers to change the system, if that makes sense.

I say the solution is a death touch script. :lol:
