Screen goes blank when loading

I've been having issues recently when trying to load my 6 box crew from the character select screen. It all started when I reinstalled Windows about a month ago. When trying to load from the char select screen occasionally my screen will go black and I'll have to turn my pc off to get it going again. This occasionally happens when zoning as well, but very rarely. Since the screen goes black, I can't see if there is an error message or not. Any thoughts as to how I can investigate the cause? General pc specs...quad core and processor and 16gb ram. Also have a pretty decent video card...would have to be on my pc to remember exactly which one, but I splurged a bit more there....

What is your new Windows version ? 8 ? 8.1 ?

Have you checked the program compatibility ?

Good question. Windows 7 64 bit. I had mistakenly set it up with a 32 bit Windows 7 system originally(which is why I reloaded), and I didn't have this issue

I'm currently running EQ UnderFoot client on a Windows 7 64Bit integral and I have no problem.

I suppose your EQ folder is a copy of the one you had on your 7 32Bit ? Maybe you should reinstall your client, just in case

Finally got around to reinstalling my client (actually switched to SOD client) but unfortunately still having the same issue. If I try to load more than one character at a time from the character select screen there is a high percentage chance that my screen will go black. I can load roughly 6 at a time if I'm zoning, but if I try to zone all 12 toons at once it it goes black as well. Any other guesses at what might cause this?

I play multiple characters and my display on all my characters is windowed mode, not full screen.

I mention this because I have had problems in general with disconnecting while attempting to zone, and I have to click the [x] in the upper right corner of that characters window, and re-log them in.

Crashing while zoning has been more frequent for me over the past month.
