augment failure/items poofed

I used Guild Hall bird bath to augment Band of chaotic Understanding with Elemental Finger, when I confirmed action to my surprise nothing happened. I then double checked items to see if I mistaken the slot / type, both finger slot and type 8 no mistake, I combine again...nothing. So I tell guild about it and their advice was to pull out items, close / reopen BB. when i close BB (after removing items) i get error messages.

I tell my guild about error message and then I reopen BB

Okay maybe I am a little thick in the head because I try combine again...nothing. This is when guild member suggests leaving Guild Hall to try another BB, So I remove items once again and close BB.

I gate out and after zoning I check inventory *POOF* no Band of chaotic Understanding no Elemental Finger
