Connection issues post-crash *Resolved*

This is kinda difficult to explain, it's happened to me a few times now and I'm noticing a pattern. I zone in somewhere, the zone crashes or doesn't load up right and kicks my character... I am then (for lack of a better description) IP banned for the next hour.

This just happened to me 15 minutes ago trying to zone into tower of frozen shadow for epic 2.0 book, was taking in 6 toons and all 5 that clicked to zone in crashed in the exact order they zoned, my remaining 3 characters lost connection immediately afterwards and now I can't connect to anything THF related, not the login server/game server/site/wiki/forums at all... I am actually using a proxy service in order to post this.

What's the deal? is this an intentional thing to prevent abuse if someone figures out how to crash a zone? Is it something I'm triggering? how can I stop this from happening... every time I get kicked and can't connect I can hop on a proxy service and connect NP...

***update***

Ok, on my 3rd time today... this time I didn't realize my trader toon was sitting on the character select screen, after some raiding I went to check on him to see the character select and immediately the disconnect message, go to log back in and find I am once again IP banned, all of my characters lose connection and I spend my 3rd hour today trying to figure out a way to get win 7 to give me a different IP address. Seems no amount of releasing/renewing/flushing/manually typing in close IP addresses will get it to give up the one I have. I can connect just fine through a proxy (it's what I'm doing now).

I really need to know what I can do to resolve this, is it logging in immediately after a crash before my toon has been "logged out" of the server and it thinks I'm trying to log 2 people into the same account? is it some kind of security measure I'm tripping? I seriously need to know what I can do to stop this from happening, I love the server but randomly not being able to play for an hour at a time causes me to let people down and not enjoy the game.

I am having the same issues, can't play at all. Its realy distressing because I loved the server and donated a lot of money to it, now I have to try another one.

Wow thats real strange. As much as it sucks to hear it, they will probably need to know next time it happens with some information. Exact Date/Time, Zone Started in -> Zone zoning into.
offhand your not trying to use VOA are you?

i did a fresh install, bit can't get past login scren to new server. I searched the boards for error 1017 messages and they had to do with banned accounts. So i was wondering if i was banned.

Nothing banned for you here. I would check the eqhost file and see.

When I first tried EQEMU I could not seem to use any login server. I found a post in a thread about login issues due to CPU over clocking. This was my problem. Reducing the OC or running at stock clocks resolved it for me.

YMMV. GL!

Well I might have found the solution, will have to give it a day or two to really test it out. A minor brown-out restarted my computer earlier and same thing happened. I couldn't connect, so back to the proxy to verify the site is working and no problems there, my personal pings/traceroutes gave me nothing so tried it through the proxy and came back with firewall blockage. I white-listed http://www.thehiddenforest.org in my firewall settings and was immediately able to reconnect...

I really don't understand *WHY* this would work as the connection is always 100% tied to a client crash/disconnect (from legit sources like server reset while afk) and is always temporary. I would expect a firewall conflict to be permanent.

I sent micah some info and was confirmed no banning, appreciate the feedback.

I did double check my hosts files, even tried manually punching in thf's site IP in case of some weird dns issue, tried flushing dns, resetting winsocks all in vain. I have also tried manually switching to different dns server but get conflicts say provider or whatever doesn't allow...

This is highly unlikely as the servers are completely unavailable when it happens, specifically http://www.thehiddenforest.org, if it was a client issue I should still be able to connect to the website.

My processor is a bit fancy, 6-core 12-thread intel that automatically overclocks itself based on cpu temp & load. Not even gonna consider disabling raw power without a really good reason :)
