Ward Undead

I was in Unrest last night on my brand new necro, and I figured I'd farm the enchained spirits (think thats the name, the dwarf ghosts in the hedges) and just dot/nuke with pet. Only problem is, when I tried to fire off ward undead, it told me that the spell I was trying to cast only worked on the undead. Well...what exactly are the spirits? If they're supposed to be humanoid by lore, then the spell is fine. But if they are actually supposed to be undead, then ward undead is not currently working. Thanks for looking in to this!

You will find about ~1% of "undead" are actually undead.

Ok, so beware of deceptive models. Got it.
Is there a % command that will identify whether they're tagged or not? I remember targeting something and typing /say %r would give you race, and %t would give you target name...is there anything like that for undead/living?

I don't believe there is a % variable for body type, which is what spells like that check against.

There's actually a spell for determining what's undead or not:
Sense the Dead. You can also jury-rig a testing method: if you use
Invisibility to Undead and the enemy suddenly cons from hostile to ambivalent, they're undead. If they
don't it means they're either not undead, or can see invisible.
Since there are no enemies I know of that share a model and yet one's undead and the other's not, you only have to do this once per enemy type. If you want to use this method, don't waste a spell slot on your combat bar; set up a different memorization layout and use that.
