Aura issue not related with stacking

Since ive gotten a couple auras one being ae other being group Ive noticed something. Since the auras recast on zone in, every time I zone in I must wait for the aura to spam before I can do anything(normally 1 or 2 seconds), as if its waiting for the server to sync or something. Sometimes, if I zone into a zone full of people ie vale or forest, the aura does not go off at all and my ping doubles every 30 sec or so until I finally quit out or disconnect around 8000 ping or so. This occurs on both ae and group auras but group aura doesnt happen nearly as often maybe 1 out of 30 zones.

With ae aura I can actually tell when its due to cast because the game sorta pauses its actions as if a zone crash or Im about to LD then the aura spams and Im good again. This normally happens in zones with tons of mobs as if its trying to cast the aura on mobs as well.

I do not know if others have experienced this but I do feel that it is an unnecessary burden on the server and client to have the ae auras spam on zone in or even auto spam. If there would be a way to make the auras castable via item obtained or something I feel alot lag/delay related complaints might be remedied. Its kinda the same if you remember the old raids where everyone started using mgb the game just kinda freaked out at all that had to be calculated at that moment and with more and more people getting auras its like mgbs casting every time someone dies/zones in/or its timer is up.


Just my observations like I said dunno if anyone else has experienced it but I can only imagine what it will be like in the future.

Hey Tala!

Just for kicks, turn off the visuals at the NPC in the Vale and let me know how that goes.

We are all into decreasing lag around here :lol:

Well considering I play eq with the lowest possible settings there are, no particle effects, use old models etc, dunno how turning off the aura visual would help as I don't see any visuals anyway lmao. Ill give it a whirl tho and let ya know.

Setting up some new code with Auras over the next few days. should help the response time dramatically =)

New code is done, will be going live after reboot tonight in the following zones:

The hidden forest
The hidden vale
Guild hall
Bazaar
Dreadspire
Halls of honor

Post as much feedback as possible to let me get any small kinks figured out. I've been testing it for the better part of today so there shouldn't be many issues at all :)

I do believe that has done the trick! Much better response time zoning in etc....but....I noticed something tonight in poair two people with same aura makes the auras double proc lmao my casts, his casts my casts again his casts again lmao dunno whats up with that.

errr i take that back has nothing to do with two people having same aura, seems its double proccing in zones not updated yet.

Aye, only the zones mentioned above have the new code active.

All the rest utilize both atm so you will see double casts in the other zones until I update them (probably tomorrow)

Any other reports on how the new code is fairing? Better? Worse? Overall not noticeable?
