New Up-coming Content Update

Hi THF!

It's been a while since we have given you any updates on up-coming content and that's because we've been working hard behind the scenes developing it!

We wanted to share some news about what's coming without giving too much away.

After CotW hit, we had a short break over Christmas but since the end of 2018 we've spent tons of time building the next chapter of THF's story. To give you an idea how much has been done so far, here are some numbers:

  • 121 new npcs created or edited from existing (non-custom) npcs.
  • 99 scripts written for npcs and quests (with between 300 and 1000+ lines of code each)
  • 11 new quests written, some including events/tasks not yet seen on THF (so not exclusively kill/loot types)
  • 70 items created (most of these are quest related but still nowhere near finished with this yet)
  • 15 new player spells/item effects (not nearly finished)
  • 5 new recipes

And we're not yet done. That's all for one of two new zones that are in development. There are still several events, scripts, stories and quests left to create.

The new content is to continue the Farseer story line that began with Ghillie in THV and took tier 7 groups to the Citadel of the Worldslayer. It will be designed for tier 9 players and will consist of one very large open zone and one group instance.

This content is designed to be hard tier 9, not entry-level. I'm hoping to give our existing "end game" guilds a challenge here. The mobs will hit hard and the trash has more hit points than most trash on the server to date but this isn't where the difficulty will come from.

A large portion of my time has been spent on the story and making the npcs you fight for, with and against (sometimes all at the same time ;)) as interactive and interesting as possible.

NPCs will use tactics you've not yet come up against and you'll need to rethink some strategies, even when facing trash (and in some cases, particularly when facing trash). Quests will involve skills you've not previously had to use and there will be puzzles to solve that require thinking outside of the box. Progress through the new content is not strictly linear (it's actually as close to sandbox as you can get whilst still telling a coherent story) but you may need to complete certain tasks in a certain order to progress easier or, for some guilds, at all.

As mentioned previously, tier 9 is not content-light for gear (VT and DSK3 provide almost everything gear wise that a guild might need). The new content will have some new gear available for you to loot and quest for but the rewards are not focused on gear and are focused on other areas (keeping that under wraps :)). There will be a lot of rewards to fight for but the main focus of this content is on wrapping everything up in detailed lore and a storyline that you will really be able to feel a part of and immersed within; this is going to be happen through a large number of tasks, quests and events (more in two zones than ever seen before) but what you need to do to complete these tasks has been designed to be engaging and, most of all, really fun.

This storyline will not end with this update! We've got some amazing plans for the continuation of both this story and the continued progress of your guild into the next tier. Cotw was just the beginning but is a tiny update compared to this stage. And the plans for the next few stages are even more ambitious, so we hope this up-coming content will show you just how ambitious we are!

I hope to complete work for this content update as soon as possible. It is taking time due to the size and scope but I don't want to cut any corners on the vision we've planned; we're confident it'll be well worth the wait for you and a lot of the groundwork (particularly with scripting) will be useful for future development.

We're really excited to share this with you. We'll post another update in a short while to keep you posted.
