Beta server is open for testing!

Beta testers needed!

We'd greatly appreciate any players logging into the test server and helping us find any bugs that you can on there. There's been a huge amount of updates to the server code, and Rain of Fear 2 client is now enabled.

You can log in with either UF or RoF2 client, we'll try and sort out a download for RoF2 ASAP. If you have the RoF2 client, don't forget to run the THFPatcher first to get all the custom files.

To log into the test server, you'll need to change your eqhost.txt file and use the following host:

Host=thfdev.dyndns.org:5999


You don't have to remove the host that's currently in there, instead you can comment it out like this:

Host=thfdev.dyndns.org:5999

Otherwise, if you login via eqemu server then you'll find the server in the server list there as well.

Your characters will be the same as on live (but maybe a little bit out of date)

Things to look out for:
  • How everyone's DPS doing? Melee got completely revamped/changed to match live more accurately. I've tried to match it to current THF DPS but will probably need tweaking.
  • I checked most of the complex quest scripts and fixed any issues I came across, but keep an eye out for any issues.
  • You might find you have some new points to spend in AA here and there, so check that out.
  • I couldn't remap Combat Fury and Planar Durability AAs, so instead refunded those points so you can just buy them back again.
  • Might be some DBStrings floating around that need updating.
  • Any other issues you find!

There's way too many changes to the server code to list here, but here are the main highlights:

  • AA system got rewritten which is more robust and extended functionality.
  • Huge amount of server performance optimizations
  • Zoning is a lot faster.
  • New admin features to make it easier for us to update the server
  • New Bot command system and bots have been revamped. New commands start with ^, see here for full list: https://eqemu.gitbook.io/server/categor ... t-commands
  • Combat revamped, which affected melee DPS a lot, I've managed to keep as close as I can to THF norms but this will need testing.
  • Data buckets introduced which will help us write more efficient and reliable quests.
  • Huge improvements to NPC pathing
  • Login server got revamped

Rof2 client feature highlights:
  • Item clickies now work from bags.
  • Augments can now be inserted straight into the item, no need for a bird bath.
  • 2 new inventory slots in the main inventory window.
  • Hot buttons now have right click menus to more easily assign customizations.
  • More hot key bars available
  • Empty bags can now be placed inside other bags.
  • Copy layout, hotkeys, and more to easily setup multiple character UIs.
  • All merchants can now show only items your character can use
  • Visible cool-down indicators on items, spells and discs.
  • Bunch of new graphics and models that we can make use of.
  • Performance increases over underfoot client.
