I m trying to figure out why I can t box with reasonable lag more than 8-9 characters with a 8 proc 2.4G / 6GB RAM / decent video card.
There s something really odd that I have noticed about EQ RAM usage.
The initial amount of RAM used by a single EQ instance considerably fluctuates between instances. On Win7, it can be from 700MB to 1.2GB...
Even weirder is on win XP, an EQ instance usually loads with 750ish MB of RAM. If you don 't do anything, this amount of RAM will stay the same over time. But if you happen to minimize the concerned EQ windonw for a while and maximize it again, I notice that the RAM allocated to this window keeps decreasing to around 200M, sometimes even lower than 100MB. And this RAM decreasing keeps occuring aftrer you have re-maximized the window.
This RAM DoT (Decreasing over Time

Does anyone know more about how to reduce EQ RAM usage?
Obviously multiboxing is much more complicated when an instance consumes 1.5GB than 100 MB

On a different issue, I ve just read about ReadyBoost and activated it on an USB drive a moment ago.
I don t have the feeling that my PC now handles +4MB of RAM... Looks as laggy as with no ReadyBoost...
Thx for your kind assistance and experience sharing.
