There is no argument that player casted buffs is a good thing for other players. AFK Macroing buffing (or anything else) is a violation of the rules. That's the simplicity of this. Let's do not get the two subjects confused ;)

I have created no drama, simply wanted my opinion to be known. Having experience from your end of the tunnel, I can see both points of view. Yes botting is against rules, however that traditionally is deemed as taking camps as someone mentioned, XPing while away from keyboard. The rules themselves state "For this reason we do allow players to use MQ2 or other 3rd party programs so long as it is not "over abused". The definition of over abused is up to the development team's opinion." I realize that the popular opinion of the players does not the development team's opinion make, however it should be taken into consideration for their own opinions to be made properly. Was this an "over abused" situation, no. I will sit on my computer and chat with people for hours over /guild, and tells, giving advice and assistance. Did that count for anything in consideration of my AFK Macroing? Not likely, because it was not brought to light. Let the popular opinion speak, not drama, simply opinions.

I wanted NO drama in this thread, and none has been put in it, so let's keep it that way, and just post how it has helped you, and perhaps enough push and Sune will be fixed, and my bot would not be necessary, however in the interim of Sune potential upgrades, my bot could fill a HUGE hole in the buffing process on the server.

I understand the want of player interaction, however me being on for those long hours, and people playing from world wide, have different timezones and time constraints, so finding a player to cast such and such at certain times of the day/night can be impossible.

Once again, just my opinions on the topic at hand.

Ps. I am sorry for posting in an inappropriate forum location, thank you for correcting me on this, I simply though this would fit in the gossip area, or heavily trafficked area to get enough opinions going.

hello everyone, I'm new to the server but thought I would chime in too. I am especially thankful for vene's buff bot, I don't know if I would have gotten as into this server if the DS weren't there. It really helped tremendously through the lower levels. Now I am getting closer to participating with the larger crowd so I am very thankful for the time saved.

I know if it were there it would give me more encouragement to build up some alts and maybe join the multiboxing league; now that I know it is legal.

Just thought I would include my two cents.

Anyways thanks for the awesome server GM's I've been having a lot of fun here

Well... I differ.

I asked you to send me a PM or tells if you disagreed, yet I come to find that you not only posted on the forums (under the guise of how helpful this is) but also you keep on sending players to this thread and talk them into posting here.

If that is not drama I am not sure what the intention of this whole thing is.

We told you again and again already: You cannot run unattended 3rd party macros. That the way it is. Take it or leave it. Unfortunately every time we tell you so you accuse us of having "double-standards" and cannot see what we are telling you, both Lillu and I.

So, case close.

No unattended macros -- we warned you several times and you still run unattended macros while afk (sleeping over night) and when you get approached you put it all over the chats and forums "to the benefit of the community" yet you are just asking for a violation of the rules.

If you see anyone using unattended macros, please let us know.

I am sorry, but if we would run this server under "popular opinion" we might have a server similar to many others where there is rampant drama, insults, etc (not naming any server specifically, to each its own). This might not be a "popular" server but it is a fun one.

Veneficius wrote:... perhaps enough push and Sune will be fixed, and my bot would not be necessary,

We have sections of the forums to address that type of issues - if something is broken or not working as players would like to, we are all ears and most of the time we do make changes based on "popular opinion". However, trying to get us to bend the rules to allow you to do what you want is not the way to do it.

You told me already you "always try to push the rules to the max"; well, you have but we won't bend the rules for anyone unattended macros. As you know we told you it was fine to run it while at the keyboard (however, see above under Lillu's response as he feels the bot should not be close to Sune -- which I agree).

To summarized, no unattended macros.

Well as for having a disagreement, I am not having a disagreement, I am however posting my opinion of the ruling, of which I am sure I am able to do. I just also wanted to know how many people will miss using my spell bot, for all the good it has done. So your ruling, as you say, being unchanged, is not damaged by such a posting, so no drama.

If this discussion had taken to the game itself then instant kicks would have ensued, of this I am sure. I even, when someone posted to OOC about my bot, and another responding that it was ruled to be stopped by GM's, told them to "Please lets not discuss this any further" over OOC. As I wanted to avoid drama. There is nothing wrong with expressing a difference of opinion, nor ensuring you must acknowledge just how beneficial it was to the server at large. The only way that might damage your ruling, is if it were not as solid and set as it has been stated to be.

A strong case need not worry about a simple opinion of the masses, however one build upon a precipice of sticks, will not stand against the gale force winds of the masses.

My question to both you and Lillu is, take a step back, and examine the strength of your argument, for the greater good of the masses that enjoy playing your game. Reexamine your strategy of pulling in new players. You have heard, assuming you did have the time to read all the prior posts, I say this knowing Micah was in a meeting and was crashing earlier, that a single player stated they probably would not have stayed here if not for the DS aiding in the leveling process at the lower levels. Is my 130 pt DS overkill, perhaps, but a more level appropriate one might be more understandable. This single player, planning on staying on the server, is another potential donator for the BP, or any number of other packages. Then factor in their mentioning of boxing, they surely will want to deck out their bots with donor gear to be on the same level.

How is a few spells cast upon request a bad thing. Even when AFK. As I can be quoted for saying, I push rules, and have pushed that rule I quoted earlier to its limit. Showing the HUGE folly in its verbiage. Restricting server wide benefits, and holding a new player down, over a few hundred MP, and seconds of time to cast it.

You don't get it.

We will say it once more:

Cast as many DS' as you want to anyone you feel like it. Just do not run an unattended macro with a third party program while you are AFK or sleeping.

Locking the thread as after this many repetitions we are sure this will go nowhere :(
