hiya,

i am planing to get a new computer system.

Which system do you use to box 12+ toons ?
What is the most important component (RAM, CPU, videocard ...) ?

I am using MQ2 and beside Maintoon only low graficsettings.

Thank you for all input 8-)

Coz EQ is such a poorly optimised game it takes a lot of RAM per instance, so the more RAM you have, the more toons you will be able to box as each EQ instance takes between 500-800mb. So i'd suggest a minimum of 16GB there really.

Processor wise, you can't go wrong with the new Intel i5's.

GPU wise, that's more preference between NVidia and AMD... Me personally, I'd choose one of the high end AMD cards as I'm an AMD fan.

Get a good, well branded PSU, around 650w+ depending on the gpu.

Motherboard, just make sure it's compatible really.

All of that is mainly if you're building the computer yourself though but the same thing stands with the RAM, if you get a pre-built machine make sure it has 16gb+

Also, if you're willing to dump money into a machine with no real budget then get a decent sized SSD as they are lightyears ahead of HDD's in terms of speed and general reliability.

No problems here using the Underfoot client with Windows 8. Performance is the same / better than Windows 7 (for me) given you can find good drivers

My biggest problem is, I can run up to 11 clients, but as soon as I load that 12th client it gets hitchy... I only have 8 gigs of ram. I can probably load up more if I turn on stick figures. I dont think it loads the textures when you turn on stickfigures, but im not 100 percent sure.

I need to order a 16 gig kit for my computer...

well i run an AMD 6100 6-core processor at 3.3 ghz, 10 gig of ram and an AMD radeon hd 7450.
i run 12 boxes with ease. i run 2 underfoot eq folders of which i run 10 toons from the second folder with everything off and old models at 640x400 resolution and keep them tiled across both monitors. I run my tank and don at 1920x1080 with new models and spelleffects and stuff down to a minimum. i usually have zero problems with lag or anything. i have recently started a 3rd group that i run from the secondary folder and really dont have performance problems with all 18 logged in.. just problems with desync alot.

i also run mq2 and iobit's gamebooster and wineq on winblowz7

Thank you all for the feedback.

Atm i also run 2 underfoot eq folders and it works great with 7 toons (8 gig RAM but old Q8200 intel).

Starting with 16 gig within the new computer and see how it works 8-)
