Need MQ2 help

I've got an issue trying to get MQ2 to work I could use some help.

I'm nearly fully completed with a custom app that I'm writing that is specific to this server (quest tracker, inventory/bank searcher, toon laucher, etc) and the launcher works perfectly with a really old MQ2 version I have that I got from who knows where years ago. I updated my MQ2 version to the latest and greatest to make sure my app’s launcher still works, but when I launch EQ I get a popup message “Error in Inject” and there is no MQ2 window and it’s obviously not working.
For testing, I’m launching EQ with standard Windows shortcuts with no success when using the new MQ2 build. If I close the new MQ2 and start my old one, everything works just fine when I start EQ.

I need to get this resolved so I can test my app with the same MQ2 tools that most everyone else probably uses instead of this weird old one I have, and this is the only thing holding me back from making this app available to THF users.

Basic information:
- Windows 8.1
- The account I’m logging into my Windows box with has administrator privileges
- I’ve got UAC (User Account Control) turned off
- Just to be thorough I’ve got the Windows shortcuts to EQ set to run as administrator
- I’m using the UnderFoot client, it’s a pristine copy that’s never been used. I made a copy of it to connect to THF
- My UF copy is all THF patched up and I’ve never connected to any other server but THF

I’ve tried a couple different ways of using MQ2, and so far none are working:
- I've tried compiling the source myself (http://www.macroquest2.com/main.php?p=download) and the end result is no MQ2 window when you launch EQ and the “Error in Inject” popup message
- I’ve tried downloading a pre compiled build from http://mqemulator.net/downloads.php and the end result is no MQ2 window when you launch EQ and the “Error in Inject” popup message

Is there anything obvious I’m doing wrong or I’ve forgotten?
- First I start EQBCS.exe
- Next I start MQ2 and it’s got it’s pretty little shield icon in my taskbar
- Next I run EQ from a Windows shortcut and login to the THF
o If I’m using my old MQ2 version all is well and I’ve got the MQ2 chat window at char select screen as well as in game
o If I’m trying a recent version of MQ2 I get “Error in Inject” pop message when I launch EQ and after I type in my username and password to connect to THF, no MQ2 window at char select nor in game

I really don’t remember how I setup the Windows shortcuts, I’ll have to check them when I get home. I don’t think I’ve got them set to Win7 or XP compatibility mode but I’ll confirm later. Does that make a difference?

Half-dumb question, but are you using the right MQ2 build for your client? If you're getting your builds from the macroquest2.com, it's not going to work (unless you backtrack through their releases to get the old (and correct) build for your client (Titanium, UF, whatever).

I'd wager that's the cause. I know that if you have an older MQ2 build than your current EQ version, it'll say "Incorrect build for your client" or whatever, but I'm not sure on the error it'll give you if you have a newer MQ2 than your client. I'd imagine it'd give an injection error rather than recognizing you have software from teh futurez :)

Ok I got it working.

First - Rude was correct and there was no hope in getting the macroquest2 version working that I compiled, it's not for Underfoot.

So I used the precompiled version from mqemulator and it worked after i started both EQBCServer.exe and MacroQuest2.exe as administrator. Weird that I didnt have to do that with the old one but who cares it works.
