The weapon is not an actual pet, it's a buff.
Both weapons provide a buff, one of them is a long duration (2 hour with buff extension) and the other is a short duration (3-4 mins ish). However you can actually use both buffs by applying the long duration, then exchanging the weapon and having the short duration stick ready for boss fights etc. obviously you cannot aug the donor but this is a minor loss compare to the huge dps increase of both buffs.
With just the weapon, my rk3 pet hits for 22k normal hits and 42k crits.
The donor bp pet is pretty powerful, but I don't actually know what it hits for without the weapon buffs too as I haven't tested that. WITH the weapon buffs it is pretty much double the damage of my non BP'd pets. Crits for 89k on zenurix with ench debuffs. 121k on debugged t1 dummy.
If you get the bp you'll want the weapon too for the most power obviously.
