Question about debuffers

Hi,

I just began to play on the server and I have some questions.
I'm currently running a team of 4 players : war, clr, rog and wiz.

I'm thinking about adding some more in this group but what ?
  • some kind of debuffer ? shm, ench or dru ? I'm not sure they are really usefull on this server. Maybe on a raid but in a group of 6 or 12, is it really interesting ?
  • more DPS ? Apparently, rogue are at the top for DPS, but is it true everywhere ? Same question about Wiz ?
  • pet classes ? mag, nec, bst ? I've never played any kind of them and I'm not sure to use them properly ;)
  • something else ?

Any help would be appreciated

Can't answer about the debuffers or pet class cos I'm not using them personally, but you can add a bard in your team.

The "slayer's destiny" song will bring some more DPS to both ROG and WIZ.

I am fairly new to the server myself. I use a Shaman and never loaded any debuffs until I started going to Kael. Some of those giants seem to be a bit resistant to spells. The Shaman is my healer thou too. Clerics are boring to me.

Bards are fairly popular on this server. All the top groups use a bard. Not sure how much trouble it would be to box one of those as I have no idea how to play the class and don't use any boxing software.

Enchanters are generally useless on eqemu. Even on live all I did was give everyone mind candy and maybe mez a mob or 2 during a raid. Rest of the time she just sat there looking pretty.

Mage and Necro are fairly equal here. Mage pet a bit stronger according to other posts here but Necro DoTs even out the damage output. Both classes fairly fun to play.

Gonna jump in and say that enc are not useless here. :)

You will notice a WORLD of difference when a mob is fully debuffed by an enchanter for a fight for both melee and spell users.

Euphoric spasm - webtools/spell.php?id=3087
decreases ac, and stats and adds a spell vulnerability.
Overbearing Power - webtools/spell.php?id=9248
adds melee vulnerability.

Those two + webtools/spell.php?id=8610 from their 2.0 and webtools/spell.php?id=8864 make your melee hit harder, your tank take less damage, and your spells land more often and for more damage.

Other spells? or other classes?

As your leveling debuffs won't play a huge part (Except slow) so I focused mainly on their level 70 spells that are used to debuff.

As for other classes, the druid epic and donor debuffs are awesome. (as is the donor bp. /cheer it affecting pets) Shaman slow is top notch and again, donor bp is <3 for melee.

I would like to stay away from donor as much as possible atm

And yes, I was speaking about other classes.

Despite druid epic, I didn't see really interesting spells (maybe Immolation of Solusek that lower AC) for druid as debuffer.
And Shaman seems to be awesome buffer for melee or caster, but I don't think one slow (except donor) will land on a boss post tier3... So Shaman seems limited in this job on this server.

Slows are useable past t3. Sure not everything is slowable, but plenty of bosses are (khasva in dsk3 for example is :D )

Every class has its use and niche on this server. Except the ranger, which needs a bit of love if I'm honest.

Shaman, Druid and Enchanter are all powerful classes as support for buffing and debuffing (and you get heals too with two of them). If you have all three in a raid, you're set. As Nilbus said, Enchanters are extremely useful (probably the most useful of the three in terms of raid-wide benefit, non-donations). The higher up the tiers you get, the more useful they become (that goes for all three).

If you are trying to get to six I would vote Bard for sure. Every group needs one =)

For the sixth toon I would vote Beastlord.

I agree with the others. Druids, Shams and Enchanters are a must for end game content. However, you really only need one of each for the raid. If you decide to build a second group then maybe go for these classes.
