what pets to charm for chanters

Hi,

First time I work on a chanter.
I levelled him 70 and epic2 but I am not familiar at all with the class.

What spells are worth using in raids situations?
I suppose the rune line cannot hurt.
The DD are obviously quite low comparing to other INT casters so not sure if they are really worth focussing on?

How about the pets?
I purchased the permanant pet charming AA. I tried to charm a mob but the charm broke 1 min later as if no special AA. Did I miss something?
What pets are recommended to charm?

I never bother charming with my chanter.

Chanters on this server are primarily buffers and debuffers, with the occassional situation where you need to mezz (not until t7+ though). So for buffs you want the insight of the seer line, manor inferno (mainly for when you get rk. II group buff), and visions of power for your wizards and other casters. For debuffs you have the 2.0 spell, wrath of the phantasmist line, Euphoric spasm and overbearing power. You also have a really great dot called euphoric noose, which has a 50% to aoe buff the raid with euphoric harmony allowing for 2 extra buff proc slots.

Also worth mentioning is the plain of tactics spell, tactical enhancement which is a great buff for the tank.

Do these debuffs really make a significant difference on bosses fights?
IE :
Wrath of the Phantasmist III : -50 to all resists
epic2 : magic resist -100
Euphoric Spasm Rk. I : Increase Melee Vulnerability by 20

Yes, especially on time critical fights it can make the difference between success/failure. Melee Vulnerability by 20 basically means increase melee damage done to the mob by 20%, same for spell vulnerability.

Should you be in the mood for donating, the chanter gets a donor wep that has a level 74 dire charm clicky. this can be used to perma charm higher level mobs in higher tiers of content for adding DPS. Although many mobs are still charm immune in t7+, you can find some that aren't and can even get ones that summon. I've used this to successfully reposition mobs (even perma rooted mobs) for easier handling throughout fights, but really the extra dps from the high level pets, when you buff them up is much better than their crappy animation pets. It's not gonna beat any BL / mage / necro t8/donor pets, but it's at least something, and kinda fun to play with
