Connecting on IRC

Could someone please post a guide on how to connect to IRC instead of just:

Code: Select all

Host irc.eqemulator.net, Port 6667, Channel #THF

Though I may be familliar in some ways to using this (ie FTP n' stuff is a breeze) I just can't seem to get mIRC to connect. Perhaps even an example using mIRC?

with mIRC:

file, select server, add a new server, put in the host & port.

no password is required, nor group, but a description is. name it anything you want.

then, select your newly created server by clicking on it and pressing the select button.

type in a full name (you can make one up) an email (you can make this up too) a nickname (this should be your forum name) and an alternate nickname (you should not have to fill this in, but, put something like MyName|2)

once all of that is done, press connect, then type /nickserv register PASSWORD EMAIL

the password should be different than any other passwords you have for security reasons. If you lose it, or your nickname gets stolen, it is not our responsibility.

email has to be a valid email. it cannot be a fake one.

after that, you should be ready to go! type /join #THF

any time you connect you will need to type /nickserv identify password email

before you receive voice. Good luck!
