The Hidden Forest

Hey guys! I've been having a blast on this server so far. Pulled 70 in my first few days and already met some very generous and friendly people. I'm one of those people who love to research end-game loot, having grand illusions of what my simple Monk will one day be

But here's the thing...

The hidden forest alla clone has tons of great info, searchable items, etc. and the wiki has a good amount of information as well! I will certainly be donating in the near future, but probably for a shaman box weapon, not one for my monk. This led me to try and search out the best "non-donor" end-game weapons for the monk, and I found a couple great ones!

The alla lists who they drop off, Valik the First Creation and Khasra Vei'Ras, respectively. Curious as to where I will be hunting down these guys, I use the name links at the bottom - but all I get are loot tables, level, faction, etc. and nothing about location.

And occasionally I'll spot an item like http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools/items.php?id=121625 the Blizzard Hand Razor, which has no information whatsoever beyond the item stats.

Which leads to my question: Is this mainly because the alla clone is a work in progress? Or based on player input? Khasra & Valik clearly exist, but the zone OR npc search dont come up with any results for them. Is there a more comprehensive HF bestiary or at the least a supplemental one besides the clone?

I also like the idea of adventuring in the classic/normal zones (not even sure if any are viable at 70+ for any reason) but the "zone chart" on the wiki, as well as anywhere on alla clone doesn't have them listed, a beastiary for them, or any gear I may gather there. I'm always on the hunt for new places so I always like to kill time and research at work, but am often met with dead ends. Anyone shed some light?

Valik and the other one are DSK3, it's the new T9 zone that was released last week so very little info about all of that yet, only 1 guild has killed him I think.

Ya first 2 well be aways away for a new player, the third link sounds like something from the yearly x-mas gm events. as for finding info on what boss's are where you can look through Guild Progression Leaderboard (click normal then search and thats listed from tier 1-9 on what boss's are in zone then just copy past boss name to npc search best beat atm.

As Khal said, Valik and Khasra are the very last few boss of the very last zone that just came out, and as he said, only one guild has killed them so far (but soon more I hope ).
But you will have hard time getting those

About the Blizzard one, my first guess would be to say that it drops during Xmas special events that this server creates for us (like halloween, 4th july, Easter). Those events are always a blast and are refreshing for everybody, especially high end raiding guilds

The "easiest" high end weapons are the one that you can get by evolving weapons in Halls of Honor, which is already tiers 8 : you kill mobs, you gain points, you buy weapons, you kill mobs, you evolve weapons and you get : webtools/items.php?id=120833 ; webtools/items.php?id=120492
There are others but they drop from Tiers 8 boss.

Making a lot more sense, didn't realize those 2 I pinpointed we're top of the top at the moment. And looking through "guild progression" is another cool way to check out gear.

The reaper and the 1HB you linked I also saw quite frequently, good to know that those come from HoH, a more obtainable end-game raid scene

As far as a bit about the second part of my question, do people generally steer away from the classic zones except for necessary questing / world bosses? Seems like they could be fun at 70+, but are a bit neglected?

Custom server so most of the better items come from the custom zones

You can go to them if you want to, but unless they're part of a quest or have a world boss in them the loot will be fairly obsolete

Makes sense. While I have eyes on the thread, the one last thing I was curious about is general progression people take. There seems to be plenty of content to progress through, I am just wondering what the best method to the madness is, I suffer from choice paralysis

I am also leveling a shaman bot to box with my monk (hopefully this opens up a little bit more soloable content for me) as well, I was lucky enough to be given a couple very decent weapons, so really it looks like armor is the next course. Is there a way to give a super concise path for a fresh 70? I.e. ...

Any easily solo-able accessible upgrades? -> farm a lot of LDON -> icewell or kael armor -> farm a bunch of AAs -> move into tier 1 -> tier 2, etc. ?

Actually, also: before i invest a lot more time into this Monk, someone briefly mentioned they may be weaker than intentioned on this server, as far as melee DPS goes? I was looking for a good melee dps / shaman box duo, as well as someone who puts out a lot of raid melee DPS - is a berserker or something else better cut out for that?

berserkers and rogues are pretty much tied for the top dps class on the server. Monks follow pretty close behind, from what I've seen at least.

ya playing 2 mnks,, a zerker, and a rog in my 3rd group imo I would go zerker shmy and if you ever add a third bard or tank.
