when running sometimes feels like quicksand

Hello,
I recently started playing again and sometimes when running through a zone it will slow down all actions including running to where its like struggling through quicksand. Then it will open up again and I'll run or attack fine. I don't appear to have any latency issue as my connection avgs 26-53 mb/s. I checked /latency and it shows avg of 234ms. Which isn't terrible. This occurs even while running one account and have nothing else up and 1450 or so megs of ram free.
I use SoD client, using your current spell file. I never had this issue before, only recently say the last week or so.
Was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing anything similar or if anyone has any ideas to resolve it. I have tried stripping all the detail levels in graphics like models shading etc down to bare bones and still have this occur.
When I play I'm using Wineq even from 2004 or so with eqplaynice built in. This in the past has allowed me to box 12 toons at once, on EZ server where it was allowed. Here I know I've boxed 3-4 safely with stick function or even boxing with no commands or scripts.
But like I stated, currently I'm getting weird frame rate issues even on one account.
