Question about AC

Hey, I'm always trying to maximise AC on my tanks, as you do, and every now and then I'll snoop a bit on magelo on other players to get ideas about what gear/augs I can get to improve.

One thing that's got me confused is that I came across this character Nuliz (Hi if you're reading and apologies for spying on you ;) ) and noticed that his AC compared to my warrior - Ylaz was higher. But adding up all of the AC on his gear comes to 3991 yet Ylaz's AC adds up to 4595, yet on magelo he's about 800 higher.

We both seem to have all the AAs that increase AC so what is Ylaz missing? Can anyone solve this mystery? Or is it Magelo gremlins?

Looks like he's wearing a shield, which I think will be calculated as more AC in magelo (shield AC counts more than other froms of AC iirc). However, magelo is not really accurate. It's great to get a look at gear ideas/what other people have, but the stats themselves are off from what you'll see ingame via #mystats.

#mystats has nothing to do with magelo.
This player is trying to improve their character and a tool they are using is the magelo.

Answer, if the other warrior has a shield on that would be it.

Ahh interesting, I didn't realise the shield made that much of a difference, thanks.

Do you think I'm doing the right thing having the shield on the back then? I see most warriors dual wielding, or do they switch for boss fights?

Thanks for the insight :)

From what I understand, warriors should typically only use a shield in secondary slot when fighting heavy hitting mobs for the chance to completely block a large hit. Otherwise, it's more feasible to dual wield for the extra heal procs (hopefully have a number of them stacked in each weapon, but this is probably only possible starting around t5+). The extra AC from a shield in secondary is nice, but the extra aggro generation+heal procs outweighs the benefits of the extra AC/Block in most cases. Knights, of course, should pretty much stick to sword/board if tanking :D

And yup, magelo is a lil wacky about how it shows stats. Not sure what it runs off of.
