Question about AC

When EQemu first started whoever wrote the code for AC just made some stuff up on the fly. A few years back the main EQEMU dev team got someone to explain how AC actually worked and they changed it. I remember it being a real headache on Storm Haven since they were merging the new code into their server on a consistent basis and had to retune everything.
I was curious if THF has split of from the main code at this point, and if the AC code is the old original code.. or the newer version which is the same as how it works on live.

The AC code used on THF is actually a little bit of everything. Some of the code remains as the original and some was updated to the newer version that EQEmu released a few years back.
It's hard to describe exactly because our code has stemmed significantly away from EQEmu base code with the implementation of our custom content/features.
One thing to note though, the EQ live AC code was recently released (maybe 3-4 months) and EQEmu has not updated theirs to match the real live coding. While THF hasn't either, we have begun the tedious process of migrating to it internally. No ETA at this moment since there are a lot of other projects on our plate, but it is something that is in the pipeline.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't trying to imply that making the code like live was better, I was just curious. Just getting a feel for AC vs HP for my tank. On live AC was much more important as it was pure mitigation, while the original EMU code had ac working like avoidance, so it wasn't nearly as nice

Any chance you still have a link to where they explain it? I found this link
https://forums.station.sony.com/eq/inde ... v2.210028/But that just explains how they calculate the AC..not how its actually used.

AC is still king on THF. And for the most part better ac comes with more hp so balancing it as a player isn't that difficult.
