DoTs not showing on targets

I am not sure where to put this, but here goes. I just recently returned and my lvl 44 Necro's DoT spells do not show on targets and I am not sure if this is normal for this server or not. I asked in ooc and got conflicting answers. I have played on several servers using RoF2 and never experienced this before. Long ago I played here with a Titanium client and do not remember this as a problem. I have tried D/L the client on the forum, using a fresh install from my disks, and another client I D/L ed, and have used the THF downloader each time. If this is normal for this server, I would like to know so I won't play these type characters.

The last time i played DoTs were showing, but that was a little while ago on Underfoot client. I couldn't tell you about the ROF2 client because i can't get my UI working so i can't use it.

Only thing I can suggest is checking your filters, making sure they're showing and they're going into the window you're expecting them to, and to check the colours to make sure they're not blending in with all the other spam.

I'm 99% sure they're meant to show and not blocked, in that they did work and I can't see any reason they wouldn't. The 1% comes from not knowing what the ROF2 migration might've done, but the Devs are awesome at seeing things like this and fixing them quick. Not to volunteer them into responding to this quickly, they do have a lot on their plates atm

I should have included that I see buffs on me, other players and pets. As an aside, I tried to log in with a Titanium client, after running the downloader, to see if problem existed. Titanium hung up after server select, but would connect to two other servers. I am totally confused, which is not a rare occurrence for me.

Thanks, I'll take a look, I'm not sure if THF does something custom with this but I'd assume that this is handled server side rather then anything to do with the client.

Also, THF hasn't supported Titanium for quite a few years now, just Underfoot/RoF2 now.

I just created a level 1 Necro on Live and another on an EMU server(Lazarus) and their DoT(Disease Cloud) showed when it was cast on a bat. DoTs did not show on EQTitan.

I just thought I would try Titanium because I originally played THF on it and didn't remember the problem then. Someone told me they were using UF and the DoTs and debuffs worked on that client, but he was a level 70 so not sure if that meant anything. I don't have the disks for UF, so I can't test it.

I have played EQ at various times for twenty years as a Necro and Shaman. I have never had a Leadership point on a Necro or a Shaman and have always had DoTs and debuffs show on targets with the damage showing in a chat channel. I don't have leadership points on a level 1, but the still show DoTs and damage caused in chat. This may have something to do with RoF2. Could someone make a level 1 Necro using UF and see if the DoTs show.

Are you talking about whether the damage actually lands, shows in chat or shows in the ui target window?

I'm talking about the latter when I talk about leadership points.

Regarding the buff icons showing in the target window, there is a rule setting on EQEmu servers which is set to true or false that determines whether or not to send target buffs to the client. If it's set to false, then it will only send if you have the points spent in Leadership AA - this is how it is set on THF currently. False is actually the default setting in EQEmu as well and I suspect that might be because it's related to expansions and servers can decide which expansion to base their server on (this is likely a feature that appeared at some point in eq history).

Looking in the code there are also conditions based on the current expansion the server is set to so that will play a part as well. We're based on RoF2.

So your client is fine, it's a server side setting. At some point in THF history (quite a few years ago now I think), it was decided that being able to see target buffs should be a part of character progression. I'm sure there was a forum discussion about leadership AA ages ago but I can't find it right now.
