The Hidden Forest

First of all, I want to say that I LOVE this server. That being said, I've been having so many problems and I'm not sure the reason for them.

I started off using the EQ Titanium version and had problems, so I ordered the SoF for 4 bucks and deleted Titanium and installed SoF. I did all the necessary steps in order to play correctly, including the updated spell file, globalload file, and didn't patch the game. Now things are worse than before!

Whenever I try to cast ANY spell or disc. I get an error stating "You may not use this ability while out of combat." And yes, I have tried while in combat, I get the same problem. Furthermore, all of my AA's have a "Unknown DB String 6-19" (there are other numbers as well for different discs).

Now on to my original problems that I had hoped to fix with the new client... Some of the newer spells on my cleric such as "Superior Renewal" or "Pious Light" do not have any picture on the icon, just a red blank icon. This is a minor yet annoying problem, as it USED to still cast the spell correctly... Just a graphical nuisance that I wanted to fix. The main problem I had was that any item with a special effect on it always says "Unknown Spell." For instance, my monk and warrior Donator Weapon all have the unknown spell on it. Furthermore, my warrior's donator weapon has an effect called "Mayong's Mesmerization (Worn)" on it, where it supposidly mesmerizes targets around target (it doesn't, lol). However, my warrior cannot do any actions such as /sit or /camp without first removing the donator weapon from the hand... possibly due to being mesmerized while wearing it? I don't know.


Okay, so after all of that, I just want to reinnerate that I love playing on the server. I have already invested money to play here and I wish to keep playing. However it is getting to a frustrating point where I don't even want to log on just due to these inconveniences. Does anyone have any of the same problems or possible fixes?

My characters effected are Dumperd (Cleric), Dumperdoo (Monk), and Dumpertank (Warrior) all on different accounts. Thanks and I will post any other information you require or you can PM me for any specifics.

Since we have quite a lot of players using SoF without any issue, I belive it's a client side issue.
Did you play on any other servers (as Project 1999)? all of these issues sounds like your client is being patched and/or not having the up to date custom THF spell/globalload files in the right place.

Make sure that you downloaded the SoF versions of the spell files, and not Titanium.

I played on P99 with Titanium and when I switched over. Since then, I deleted the entire Everquest folder and re-installed with SoF. I made sure to download the SOF spellfile and global load file and have the SOF Spell file in the EQ Folder and the global load file in the Resources folder. I also moved the old global load file to a backup folder on my desktop. Is there something that could have changed when I played on the p99 that would have changed the way my client is running now that completely deleting and fresh-installing SoF would not have fixed?

Also, I just checked the spells.us SOF file that is downloaded and all it has is little characters that I cannot read.

etc, etc. for like 55 pages, lol. Is that normal? I'm just trying to give as much information as possible so I can hopefully fix this problem.

this is typical issue with a client patched from P1999. honestly, I don't really have any other idea, but to reinstall a clean SoF client and try that. :/

I have already tried that but will do it again. Is there something else a patch may change aside from everything in my EQ folder that I should delete?

Just reinstalled EQ SoF and still no luck. I don't know what to do anymore... Sorry to whine but it's quite annoying when you're doing everything correctly and it SHOULD work but it doesn't.

did you reinstall it to a separate (new) folder? or just overwrote the existing one?

Not sure if I understand. I went to add-remove programs and uninstalled the old Everquest then I installed SoF. Both folders were Program Files/Sony/Everquest. However it was a NEW folder of it. From playing on EQTitanium would it change anything within my system that would carry over that uninstalling it would not remove? I'm quite computer-illiterate lol
