Mayong Mistmoore

Greetings all :)

So I've been collecting all the drops for my epic 1.5 when I hit a snag with this particular mob.

I've killed Lord Nagafen/Terrorantula/ Fearsome Specture, then I pop over to Mayong and take a real beating.

I'm playing War/Rng/Clr with a Shaman bot.

Tanking wise, it's pretty simple stuff, my Warrior can take the hits. It's just the 3870 lifetap that's hitting him. Twice now towards the end of the fight, Mayong has gone mad and proc'd this thing like, 4 times in quick succession which despite me using Lights the whole fight for healing, finishes me off.

I wonder if Mayong's always been like this, from my point of view the mere existence of that spell makes Mayong exponentially tougher than Nagafen.

Obviously I've buffed MR as much as I can, but it seems like I might just have to go away and grind AAs excessively to include Unfailing Divinity (for reliable DI use) and Divine Arbitration to stand a shot. My Shaman was tossing 5.7k/11k crit heals too.

Anyway if anyone has any other thoughts, something I'm missing, let me know. Seems like this guy is a real bottleneck to my 1.5 aspirations.

If its not an incorrect spell id then it is something that may need to be looked into for a possible reduction in damage or proc rate. Ill bring it up to the dev team. For now, I'd take Kron up on his offer. ;)

This was mentioned before and we already said its the "spice" of the server, it's intended to be like that. Not every fight meant to be the same. This one is like this, more adrenaline. ;)

Please search the forum before posting.

Well it was worth a shot, eh?

At least we have some helpful players on THF for these "spicy" encounters. =P

Adrenaline vs kill ur tank in 2 seconds from 100%hp are two different things :P

I just maxed out my unfailing divinity so I expect to go back and win with any luck.

If I beat it then I'll like the encounter just fine, but I question the strength of that spell, spice or not, given the relative strength of everything else in the quest (notably Naggy being from the next tier up).

Basically though as it stands, for any group of 3-4 folks at the gear level of the time (rather than relying on help from players geared in higher tiers) can easily still die without Divine Intervention/Unfailing divinity.

It all comes down to content tuning in the end.

If tuning = expecting a 12k tank to survive vs 15-16k damage + melee on top in a couple seconds, then you have a win :P

Would it be at all possible that you are eating the first few seconds of Enrage (which would cause his proc to go off much more quickly then just normal attacks)? Since this typically happens around 15% on mobs, maybe turn off auto attack on the warrior around 16% to avoid the possibility of eating enrage? I've killed him 6 times (once for each of my toons and my friends toon) and have never experienced what you are talking about, the last time i soloed him on my monk for my friends necro. I also turned off auto attack around 16% to avoid eating enrage and let my DS take him to 15% where he enraged then i let it fade prior to attacking again...

Very good point ... I always turn off attack before enrage and I haven't experienced what Kosmos mentions above with that mob. I killed him yesterday for some lowbies and I didn't experience that.

I do the 16-17% manouver myself on an important encounter.

I wont lie and say I don't ever daydream and plow by accident hehe, but this was pre-enrage. I checked my chat history to confirm what had occured. Which showed me four procs in very quick succession.

Normally I'd come to a similar assumption, but I did multiple runs, anyway, we'll see how I go next time.

Victory was had, much ale was quaffed, epics were claimed.

DI did the trick, had one hairy 100% to 17% moment on top of that. I'd been choosing more spell shield gear of late too so I got that tap down to about 3640hp. (edit- I think that was pre-today's patch incidentally)

After all that hullabaloo I actually enjoyed the encounter for what it is. Most of what I'm saying is for the benefit of non cleric healer groups.

Also it's philosophical as ever, like, if a player needs to seek a guild or get help to get past an encounter like this at a good pace(enough ldon and AAs would trivialise it eventually I'm sure anyway), then that player is encouraged to interact with the server, thus you have integration - so it could be a good thing.
