A question for Lillu and Co.

So, I have been poking around the front-end of the database (the Alla Clone, essentially), and I have run a lot of different searches and commands and whatnot. I have found quite a few items that the database recognizes as "in the game," as well as a lot of zones and mobs that are "in the game."

(This is how I found Bolno the Peon dropped a T6-quality earring, and then access to the zone was promptly removed!)

That said, a lot of this content is inaccessible to players; or, if it is accessible to players, should probably not be accessible to players. Is there a way to strictly determine what I can and cannot access?

I ask because a lot of the content I am finding is stuff I never got to see in Live (I quit in 2004), so it is all very interesting to me. Some of the zones (Theatre of Blood, Thundercrest Isles, etc) are all about the level of modified Kael (at least the loot is), and I would like to engage the content. But, it is tough to determine where I can and cannot go, and I do not want to get in trouble. I would still like to see this stuff :(

Help!

If you can legit zone in then there is no harm in you being there. As far as locked zones they are locked for a reason either loot, errors, or future content.

If you find something out of context for example the ring you found in RCoD, the proper method would be to contact a GM and explain this and posibly get a small reward in return.

Shouting out in a public channel for everyone that wants one to come get one was not the proper method and is highly frowned on causing an immediate zone lock which btw is not locked anymore and all loot removed so its even more boring there than what it was before.

Just keep in mind its better to report things like you found before and not exploit them out the recoil is never going to be in the players favor on something like that.

Well, I understand that some mobs are not intended to drop certain items. I had no idea that Bolno was only going to have like 50k health and be easily defeated by a Kael-geared paladin bot! Either way, I figured it out after he respawned almost immediately and dropped another earring. (I even mentioned this in OOC, and others agreed. But since I was unsure, and it is tough to really contact a GM in-game, I was stuck between a rock and hard place.)

Also, Plane of Mischief is open for exploration, and there are no mobs in there (except the little wisps that the trees spawn when you get near them). I am not sure if this is intentional (you do have the normal zone teleporter going there!), but it made me sad when I went in and found nothing!

I guess my general question is, are most of the zones I am finding in the database locked down, and thus inaccessible, and pretty much just the old-world zones, the raid zones, and the custom zones like Natimbi and Qinimi the only ones we really "should" be trying to access?

try to stick with the custom zones for supported play

90% of Elyse's (the normal zone port fairy) are not supported or custom, just a means of access for whatever reasons like zone connect or exploration.

even though some may have a bit of custom content only that little part would be supported, oldschool stuff just is what it is.
