Donation Gear Questions

Hey everyone, just looking for some advice regarding a box group and donation gear. Currently I have a 70 wiz and cleric with some stillmoon trash gear. I'm raising up a sham, war and a rogue bot. If I'm looking for the most bang for my buck regarding donation gear what would you recommend? Group will be a wiz, cleric, shaman, war and rog bot. My budget is no more than $200. I plan on mostly playing with just this group and maybe a couple people. But mostly just me, so the war will be MT and cleric MH etc.

Does anyone have any advice on what class I should add to that group? I was thinking bard? or maybe an extra dps?

And one more question, how far can 1 group go in this game? In regards to tiers or world bosses or anything? My play time really varies so I dont want raiding to be my main priority.

Thanks everyone!

If you starting new, scrap the warrior, and put in a SK or PAL and get donor wep. My PAL has donor, has about 9kac and is much harder to kill than my main warrior with lots of donor running over 10kac.

Get the shaman a donor and keep it as the healing clicky. Thats a 1000+ hp/tick regen once fully aa'd. Then I would probably go with wiz donor, as with that and aa's/clickies your will never have an oom wiz.

As far as progressing goes, a bard is great addition. I dont even melle with my bard, just the songs alone make my wiz group special. When needed I can get it to melle also, but as I box a lot of toons I tend to just leave it with the casters singing and picking its nose. I find bards hit & miss. Great when in the group and being played by another char, but PITA to box properly when getting up close and personal, and forever worrying about agro/hps.

Your main concern is going to be DPS or lack of. A ranger with donor bow is an excellent source of click-free boxing dps. Just assist/autofire and forget. Gearing is also less of an issue as you dont let them get too close.

You might be better off in the long run dropping the shaman and adding another wiz or ranger for some extra dps. Or you will struggle to kill any boss mob within 3 mins of defensive unless you have defensive clicky rings from T3/T5. Shamans are great, but if you want to 1 box things, extra dps might be better.

I am 100% certain that I am doing it wrong, but I have boxed everything T1-T7.

When I fool around with just 1 group, it tends to be war/pal/rgr/rgr/bot with a space free.

You can allways check my magelo for ideas.

Farcical - Warrior
Madd - Paladin
and about 18 other toons that just plain suck on gear...

**The Sleeper (T3) takes me 30 minutes to kill with just War/Pal. This gives you an indication on how much DPS you are likely to need on boss mobs.

Donation Weapons are the biggest bang for your buck if you have a limited budget.

I've always heard warriors were better single target aggro/dmg mitigation? or maybe just single target aggro. Is it that big of a difference?

Yeah, the donor weapons for them sound like a really good idea. how do the epic weapons stack up against donor? I assume donor is still going to edge them out?

As far as progressing goes, a bard is great addition. I dont even melle with my bard, just the songs alone make my wiz group special. Great when in the group and being played by another char, but PITA to box properly when getting up close and personal, and forever worrying about agro/hps.

So maybe instead of a bard, I could go with a ranger or monk? for a bard box you just kind of pick 4 songs that you want and do /melody?

So I've heard that the ranger is great afk dps. I might bring one up and see how that goes.

So I'm thinking this would be my group set up right now. Wis/War/Sham/Cler/Ranger/rogue bot. How does that sound? I just want a solid group that can progress decently far and be able to be pretty self sufficient.

I am 100% certain that I am doing it wrong, but I have boxed everything T1-T7.

if you are looking for donators that will help you crew to progress my advices are.

Sk/shm/wiz/bard/cleric and rogue bot.

Start with a SK tank and get him a donor ( the first version ) the clicky is a 1k5 hp per tick dot/regen. Knights are king on AE aggro , so you won't have much problem with adds when boxing.

Get a shm with donor, 1k5 regen witch stacks with SK donor. just do the math :p. they get godly conv spell line witch boost a lot the spell dmgs on sk/ and wiz

a wiz with donor , elite dps and endless mana

a bard with donor ,boost your overall dps on all char and make your wiz deadly and even more mana and dps + 400 hp regen.

and then a cleric :)

Don't be affraid to work a lot on your bot, they are great dps once geared up

So if I bought only 3 donors right now, would you say SK/Wiz/Sham? also, is it worth it to give a bot a donor weapon? they kind of lose a lot of the kick since the bot wont be using the clicky.

And do you guys use WinEQ2? I know some people that just use normal windowed mode. I guess it comes down to preference.

SK/WIZ/SHM donor is a great bang for buck.

I box a War for a main, but when I have my PAL or another SK in the group, its really noticeable. I only prefer a WAR as I box way too many as it is.

The donor weapons are best in game. And the clicky is what makes it special. Theyre all pretty nice tbh.

I run my bard by having it sing songs and not attacking. Its wasteful but its 1 box I can just forget about. Bards are a great overall addition, and if you melle with them its even nicer.

Any tank/healer/dps group put together will do will tbh. Just go through all the content and dont skip. Its not a race. Ive been here over a year, and I'm still only in T7. But i've managed to box everything myself upto T7, and I havent missed any mobs/zones. I farmed TOV for weeks until I was happy that I could box it every time.

Make a group of characters that you will enjoy playing. Enjoy the server content the way the developers meant it to be played, by crawling through all the content. If you enjoy your time here, grab some donor gear to show your support and make travelling THF a little safer for your crew. Join a guild or make your own. Group or solo. Basically whatever floats ya boat :)
