Trouble going full-screen..

I tried to go full-screen after logging in and the game froze and gave me an error (which, in my haste, I fail to remember..). Then, when I tried to start the game again, a black screen would flicker from full to windowed and then give me an "Everquest: Windows- application error." message stating that the memory could not be read.. Any idea what exactly happened, or how to fix it? 
UPDATE: So, for whatever reason, Everquest will start up when i run it in administrator mode.. Coincidentally, this is the first time "administrator" has been of any use with windows 7
