UI Problem

Hello folks! I'm not sure if anyone's had this problem before but here's my issue, if you know any fixes let me know.

Upon login, I receive a message of "Your XML files are not compatible with current EverQuest files, certain windows may not perform correctly. Use "/loadskin default 1" to load the EverQuest default skin."

Now, I'm using default UI and I'm experiencing some issues with the character info section, it isn't displaying HP, Mana, and End correctly. Usually it tops off around 85%. I can see the group's HP just fine. Also, some of the other windows don't function correctly. The Quest log doesn't always show the task steps, just the reward and the title.

I'm using the default UI, and the Underfoot client.

Any ideas?

I have the same issue with UF client. I am a bit too lazy to look for a solution since I can see the correct HP/Mana from any other client I have logged in. However if you find a solution please post it.

The HP and mana part is a problem the THF have to fix, it was a error with the underfoot client, or so I was told. I heard that EQ live wa sablt to fix the problem. Until then we are just stuck.

Tried downloading a new UI from eqinterface.com.

No dice. Checked my uierrors.txt file, there's a ton of stuff causing errors. I'd get a hard copy of the titanium client, but there's none in stores. Amazon and eBay copies cost way too much, and I don't think downloading the current client would leave me able to play the game, but I wonder if I installed in a different directory, patched, and copy/pasted the UI folder into THF install would work.

Thought I would bump this to see if anyone has found a solution. I too am running UF client and I get this message every time I login: "Your XML files are not compatible with current EverQuest files, certain windows may not perform correctly. Use "/loadskin default 1" to load the EverQuest default skin."

Using the "/loadskin default 1" command does not remedy the situtation.

iirc:
The server will calculate the hp, mana, end of every spawn for which it knows the stats. This is every spawn.

Likewise, your client will calculate the hp, mana, end of every spawn for which it knows the stats. This is only your character. Nothing else.

Targets, pets, and group health bars are all based off of whatever the server tells them. Since the server only tells your client the percentage hp, mana, end of other spawns, your client can do nothing but draw a bar indicating percentage. Your client doesn't know how much health another player or mob has, point-wise.

Since your client DOES know your max hp, mana, end and the server tells it you what point value of each you currently have (as opposed to the percentage, like it does for all other spawns), the client then takes it upon itself to calculate the percentage for you.

This is where the discrepancy comes in.

The server knows all, and it tells you your current hp, mana, end. It also knows your max hp, mana, end but doesn't tell you because you can calculate that yourself. Efficient, right?

Right, but it turns out not everyone is using the same formula to calculate hp, mana, end.

THF calculates these numbers using formulae from the Titanium era. Titanium users have that formula, thus server reported hp, mana, end match client calculated hp, mana, end and your health bars shows 100%.

Underfoot client calculates hp, mana, end differently than Titanium. The UF formula seemingly returns more hp, mana, end than the Titanium formula in every instance I've seen.

Thus, when you're full health according to the server (let's say 10k hp) you, the UF user, see yourself at 10k of 11k on your health bar, or 90.9%

The funny thing is that your inventory value will show you at 11k/11k. I have ideas for why that happens that way, but this entire thing is speculation. Take it with a grain of salt!

Bottom line, different hp formula between server and client.

I've been getting that error since I started playing on EQemus and it's never done any harm. I would just ignore it.

The HP/Mana not being full is a UF UI error and there isn't really anything we can do to fix it.

I've never heard of a quest log not updating properly.

So I resolved the dang issue... but took extensive hours to discover it. This is a direct issue.... primarily direct 11. If you updated any files from windows update etc u have these files.

Go into registry use Regedit and enter local machine area, then software, then Microsoft and finally directx...

Find the entry called current version and delete it. Also look in the sub tree for direct sdk and delete it.

Close regedit.
Google directX 9.0c redistributable and directx sdk compile.

Download these and install them in your program files folder.

Reset PC, log back in, Load eq either with Wineq or by eqgame.

This issue is a bug with older games and directx struggling to draw fast enough because directx 11 is worthless.

Enjoy your game all, and don't camp bosses everyday like the guy from xxx guild, let someone else enjoy the game before you can't play anymore.
