I just dinged 70 with my mage and it seems I need to start saving cash or raiding alot more in order to get an upgrade to my pet.

I checked the wiki and drop lists from various zones but found no pet spells/scrolls

My question is which one(s) to get and where (zones, raids, bazaar) ??

Mage pets are a little tricky! You don't get a spell upgrade at 70 for your pet because your epics 1.5 and 2.0 summon some a pretty powerful pet (see the wiki for more information about your epic quests). It is a huge upgrade from the pets available in the 60s. Alternatively, you could buy webtools/items.php?id=120258 in the bazaar which is your Tier 8 pet. It's beastly (even better than your epic 2.0 pet) but expensive to a fresh 70.

So in between epic 1.5 and T8 there are no pets?

You can also incerase the pets power by hunting for the Pet Focus effect items. They give a straight % to your pets hits etc. Items like that are boots from Kael (30%), boots from ToV (40%) or the Ldon Augment for 1150 points (45%).

Also you will find numerous clicky items throughout Norrath that give your pet a short boost of dps.

There is also a pretty powerful pet heal spell in Vale that you can buy pretty cheap for 150 (or 300, i can't remember) Ldon points. Its very usefull of you plan to solo/grind/farm much with your mage.

That said Id like to emphasize Norens tipp. The Rk I. pet he is referring to will cost you 30-35k but is a total gamechanger and, in my opinion, much more powerful than anything else available at that Tier for that price. You will be able to blast through content that is now challenging or undoable for you. Im currently working on T6 and the Rk1 pets from my mage and necro are still my #1 source of dps.

There are two pet spells that aren't the 1.5, 2.0 or T8. The first is Child of earth (http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools/items.php?id=77229) and the second is True Summoning (http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools/items.php?id=4444). Child of Earth is an easy drop to get, and true summoning seems to be extremely common on any Xegony run (dropped by the mobs on xegony isle). It can also drop from the minis which are located near the avatars.

To be fair, Child of Earth is inferior to the Epic 1.5 pet, which can be attained at 65. So, while you're right Baz in that there is another pet at 70, I consider there to be no real upgrade scrolls at 70 that aren't epics or Tier 8.

Also, True Summoning is swarm pets.

To update the list, here is what you can expect as a leveling mage.

Ah that explains the true summoning thing. Seemed out of place in that you had to be T5 flagged to get it.
