Managing Short Buffs

Post#1 » Fri May 31, 2013 6:40 pm

So, how exactly do all of you go about managing your short duration buff slots (songs window) ?

As you begin loading up on T7 auras, on top of songs, class buffs, epics, etc. I am noticing its harder and harder to not cap out on song buffs even with maxed out buff AA. Do you simply not use many of the useful buffs that are available and go with the ABSOLUTE essentials?

For instance my main group consists of my tank/melee (War/Clr/Mnk/Zerk/Rog/Brd). This results in ...

4 Auras (Deathbringer, Witchdoctor, Stronghold, MIghty)
Stronghold Rune Proc
Commanding Voice
Warrior Epic (2 slots)
4 Songs (Cantata, Orcslayer, Minstrels, War March of Chaos)
Bard Epic
Hands of the Master
Echoing Whispers
Shaman Epic (from out of grp shaman)

I believe this is all, but could be more idk right offhand.

Obviously other classes in the group have their own epic clicks as well (zerk, rog, etc)

So this is a potential 16 slots of 12? available slots on my warrior. I suppose I could resort to reducing the DPS effects such as the zerker and monk group buffs and the bard epic? Maybe even drop war march of chaos? This would bring me down to the 12 at the cost of some dps and threat however. Also I understand as I reach T8 there are even more potential short buffs that I would have to account for.

It feels kind of unfortunate to not be able to use some decent buffs due to slot limitations :(

So my question to you, is how do you manage your short buffs? How do you decide what is worth it and what is not.

Playing 3 groups with raid auras songs epics it gets tricky, but what I do is block things on some toons that they may not really need to leave room for things that is needed/wanted.

As for bard songs I just cantata,slayers,minstrels,harmony of sound(on mob) and sello and imo you don't wanna not use bard epic.

So imo say for instance on your tank for what you have listed I would block Hands of the Master and Echoing Whispers and Shmy 2.0 and have your bard drop war march.

Then per toon just go through and block what is not really wanted to allow for what is.

Hope that was a little helpful ;)

Yea that sounds good, basically what I was assuming. Just so hesitant to stop what aren't bad buffs by any means. However its the obvious choice when it comes to possibly not receiving something that I need much more.

I block all short-duration illusions.
I block any aura that isn't pertinent to the class (Glyphwielder on a melee and Mighty on a caster, etc).
I block rune procs on most toons (I don't know how this affects group rune aggro).
I only use Slayer's Destiny on the bard.
I allow all epic 2.0s
I allow casting procs like Gift of Mana
I allow short-duration clicky buffs like T8 bp's

That usually keeps me right at the thresshold on every single toon. I prune a lot of them - for instance this is what I have blocked on Noren:
BlockedSpellID0=9545
BlockedSpellID1=9089
BlockedSpellID2=8491
BlockedSpellID3=9123
BlockedSpellID4=9100
BlockedSpellID5=9838
BlockedSpellID6=9769
BlockedSpellID7=8000
BlockedSpellID8=9243
BlockedSpellID9=9244
