I have, for the last 5 days or so, been seeing a new splash screen after logging in to the private THF login server but before the server select screen is loaded.

It says "VOTE FOR EQ! etc..." prompting me to "VOTE NOW" or "VOTE LATER" and it is dated 2005 and the thing wouldn't go away until I tinkered in one of the EQ settings files.

(UF client) Did the THFDownloader re-activate this news splash screen or did something happen on my end? I did run the THFDownloader at about the time I first started seeing this splash screen, so I believe they are related.

I'll admit, I don't yet fully understand what invokes the splash screen, but I did find the offending line in eqlsstring_us.txt. It was entry 6066. Simply clearing that entry stopped the splash from showing. I did try modifying eqlsUIConfig.ini, changing the "Show=1" line to =0 where I thought applicable but that yielded no results until I modified eqlsstring_us.txt

I thought maybe THFDownloader accidentally re-activated this old Sony news splash. Any ideas?

I've always had it come up... will give this a shot to clear it. If it works, I'll love you long time as it always interrupted my auto login the first time I load anyone up!

Hope it works for you too - and just be aware it may not be line 6066 for you. I just searched for the text that appears in the splash screen to find where the offending line was.

There has not been any change to the patcher files in roughly 3+ weeks. So if you are just now experiencing it, then it is something unrelated to the patcher.

Just hit "Vote Now!" and close the browser window when it opens up. The request won't show again (at least that's how it works for me).

This is how it's always been for me on a fresh install.
