Is there any hope of looking at rogue DPS in mid-tiers? I'm just a little disgusted with the class at the moment. Using clickies/spamming daggerfall I push 6, maybe 7k dps against Atcho (not using the long cooldown burns), which is exactly what the bazaar-bought pets for necro/mage/bst do. Add in those classes dots/nukes/melee and there simply no way I can come close to their DPS. It's just a tad disconcerting. My rogue is 90% equipped in T6 gear with 2.8 and T5 augs.

I know this has been thrown out before, but pet classes are the ultimate DPS before melee dps gain access to T8 and only after quite a deal of farming there, and it just seems a little wacky. I haven't checked prices lately, but if you have 20kpp and a fresh level 70 beastlord, your pet can match the DPS of a full T6 rogue with 2.8. Those spells really really shouldn't be tradeable, as it trivializes content and makes me look pretty impotent

Or perhaps boost the DPS from tradeable rogue T8 tomes? The existing ones are... underwhelming to say the very least. The assassinate changes were terrific, but it's not quite enough in mid tiers. I love my rogue, I love the difficulty in playing it (honestly, who finds it fun to just sic pet and dot raid targets) but I fear it's just some background mediocre DPS that gets wrecked by my necro and is just tagging along until T8 access.

This is all, of course, not including DPS from donors, as donor items aren't including in class balancing.

Sorry, didn't mean to do a mild flame in a subforum that explicitly says "No flaming", I just had to get that off my chest and was hoping someone would take a close look at the subject. Rogues are still viable DPS vs other melee classes of the tier, it just seems borked when I put a good deal of effort in a toon only to see a T1 pet class with an easy to obtain pet focus from SH and other actually viable nukes/dots from bazaar match/exceed my DPS

Unfortunatly , and as you mentioned, the PET class over dps you because of their T8 pets , and only because of that. You can't really compare T6 spells and T8 spells.

I totaly agree with you that the T8 pets shouldn't have been tradable but it's too late now, and I'm pretty sure devs won't do the same mistake in the next spell tier.

I guess the devs can't boost the dps of melee class before T6 since It would just break all the content designed back when T6 was the highest tier.

and when you enter T8, I have yet to see a pet class overdps a rogue

be patient and time will come where your little rogue will just outdps everything around you. ( including the poor monks )

EDIT: Just realized there was a T8 upgrade to dagerfall. Upgraded to that, spammed it instead. Did several parses, and the DPS boost was about 200dps average on 5 minute parses

Like Firenze said, you're comparing a tier 8 pet with a tier 6 geared rogue. Once you get end game gear and parse more than 57 mage and necro pets combined, you're going to look back at this and laugh

I wouldn't worry about it. If there's a class on THF that needs a DPS boost, it's not rogues.

the gap between pet class and rogues pre tiers 8-9 is nothing compared to the gap between them later on...the other way round.
So as fatty said (aka Warlgor), rogues really don't need any further dps increase.
Be patient and you will be rewarded

And yeah, some people are having fun doting and sending pets to a boss !

At least I know I'm not doing anything wrong, it's just that I'm part of a slightly flawed system.

Don't take that the wrong way, I know balance is a big priority to the developers. It's just like I've stated earlier, it's discouraging knowing I'm out-dpsed by a silly pet a fresh 70 purchased from the bazaar after a couple days of casually farming plat. Saying "Don't worry, you'll be better than them once you clear DSK1, kill the reaper, and spend a month+ in HoH" isn't a whole lot of consolation.

I'd be fine if the pet spells were made no drop (old players being grandfathered in I guess), and those pets being slightly boosted in DPS to make them more viable end-game (assuming they are lacking?). Stem the tide. Add another trade able spell to the vendor for the lack of the hopefully no-trade pet. Just ideas :\

Edit: At least when those spells came out, they were ridiculously expensive. I dropped 250k on my necro's pet, something very very few "fresh" 70's have.

Clerics could also complaint their DPS is bad.

You are comparing a t8 pet to a lower level geared rogue.

It is not a flawed system, it is EQ

PS: starting to feel this "mild flaming" should be parked ...
