i still feel the shaman pet could use some help. it is very weak and i feel we should be able to use the canni spell more often.

I don't use the pet anymore because they'll just die too quickly (ramp/AE/enraged)... then you have to resummon and rebuff (ie. not worth the hassle). I don't want to micro-manage it cuz I box and it's hard to keep up with everything during tough fights.
The shaman used to have a lot more utility when I was still playing on Live. Those buffs were golden and having a shaman in group was such a big plus. All my shaman does now is just buff panther and HEAL. I just wish the buffs were useful again, but right now they aren't since everyone gets their stats maxed out on T2/T1 gear.
-edit- Oh BTW, I saw a server update announcement saying that spell/ability changes for shamans are done. Can anyone refer me to the thread about it? Tried searching, can't seem to find one.

shaman pets recently got a BIG BOOST for DPS power (if you solo/group on non rampage mobs), and it procs a buff onto itself which gives it 70% haste and +350% chance to critical
other than that I am out of ideas how to help them more...

Nice! I didn't know that

Will those boosts stack with the usual things I buff my pet with (stats, ATK, etc) or I don't need to buff the pet at all?

http://www.thehiddenforest.org/spell.php?id=8833as you see it gets 150 atk in 1st slot, 70% haste in 2nd, and 380 critical in 3rd
so using this you can figure out what else you need to put on it, but I am pretty sure haste and atk are well covered

actually those "slots" are for spell stacking reference =)
For example if you have 2 spells:
Spell A:
slot 1 - Haste 20%
slot 2 - HP buff for 2k
Spell B:
slot 1 - Haste 1%
slot 2 - AC buff +200 AC
These spell will NOT stack, because they have identical effect in slot 1
Now look at this:
Spell A:
slot 1 - Haste 20%
slot 2 - HP buff for 2k
Spell C:
slot 1 - HP buff for 2k
slot 2 - AC buff +200 AC
These 2 spell WILL stack cause they do not have matching effect in identical slot, so you will get all 4 bonus, and HP from BOTH spells
So its not directly related to how many buffs you can have on a pet, but rather which effects are in which slots

Yeah I kinda understood that, what I meant was that pets only have 4 buff slots, right? So this proc takes one buff slot, which leaves 3 other buffs (sta, focus, etc.)
Thanks for the detailed info though, makes it more clearer to me.

Your pet can hold more buffs, not sure what they cap at but it's probably just as many as a player. You should be able to drag and expand the pet window to see other buffs.

There are more buffs than just panther that will help out anyone maxed on mod/mod2 stats. Check out talismans of fortitude, might, and sense. Also, champion will provide a boost in atk/dmg.
