Enchanter Niche?

I was wondering, seeing as how I recently started up an enchanter....

If all the worthwhile chanter buffs are available on the buff bot, and most named aren't slowable (from what little I've seen so far), what does an enchanter bring to a group?

I'd like to propose some unique mid-duration buffs that would make enchanters a viable support class. A new special haste (that overwrites Salik's) that not only hastes, but adds a 10% increase to melee crit and double attack. Also a spell buff for casters that increases spell crit and possibly crit damage.

How about a beneficial target buff similar to Ward of Bedazzlement that has a chance to mez the target when it strikes a group member (obviously you don't want this on your tank).

Thoughts?

Back when I played, their charms brought much more DPS than a PC could ever put out (twice as much?) and plus their pets tanked better than any PC tank without a disc. Heck, there was even one time when all our tanks died to Vulak and so we just spam healed the pet for the last 10% health (or something like that) during which the blasted thing solo'd Vulak.

Times could have changed though and I know melee DPS classes were beginning to exponentially get more DPS on par with 6-7k which I don't think a charmable pet can do.

Enchanters also have their 2.0 which has a clicky that decreases MR by 150, which is essential in slowing mobs like Fennin, Xegony and most likely CT also.

I'm not sure about raid situations, but from my experience alot of nameds seem to be slow immune.

A lot are but then a lot aren't, as well. Specifically, the ones that aren't appear to be designed and balanced to have massive damage (higher than their peers) which is counter-balanced by the option to slow them.

Thing is, I've found slowing these mobs without debuffs is impossible.

For that alone, having an enchanter, I assume, would allow us to take these mobs down differently. Currently we have to just heal, heal, heal and DPS it down before it does the same to us. Viable option, yes, but surely more risky than debuff, slow... win.

Not that I can speak for this option as we've never taken it :)
