Melee Ranger DPS - Viable?

Just curious, I love Rangers, but I like Melee Rangers over Bow Rangers. Dunno why, just love the hybrid melee fighter.

not here - the dps loss would be tremendous. Basically would be doing 1/4 of what you should be and at that point might as well be using a warrior for dps 8\

not with the Archery mastery aa's and such that Rangers get - they do about 6x more dmg wtih a bow than melee, (6 might be a bit of an exaggeration but id stand by my x4 at elast lol)

Depends how heavily you focus on the character. For box afk dps bow autofire will win for sure. For a single box melee works if you are focusing that attention to it. Obviously if you have a donator bow vs inferior melee weapons your bowing will be vastly superior as well.

Depends on how many you box as well.
Im pretty lazy and moving back 40 distance and pushing autofire key is more work then just pushing /assist + attack on and really the dps loss from bow to melee is not that bad when you have 5 melee.
If you only had tank healer ranger you would want to be using bow for sure cause that is your dps.

To be fair, though, you do have the donator bow. I was curious as to a high end ranger with evolving weapons maybe, or something of the sort. The reason I ask is because we were considering subbing a Ranger in at times for our group, but we prefer melee to ranged, and Bards buff melee a million times more than they buff ranged dps.

non doner bow dps Vs good melee weapon dps with the right setup would be a close call.
Generally you get better dps out of the bow but not always the case.
