Adding or Updating Quest Guides.

As a relatively new player on THF, I have been lurking around the forums / portal constantly to absorb information on this server I wish to call "home." One of my few frustrations is the lack of information on many of the server's quests. Now, many of the quests found on THF (esp. lower level ones) are very straightforward and not too time consuming. All well and good, but for those of us that are new arrivals, we may want to apportion our time for the greatest risk vs reward factor, or double check information to be absolutely sure we have all the necessary components. I noticed a trend for the "collection" quests to not list a reward, which led me to wonder whether I was applying my play time productively. So, as I post a pair of quests in spoilers down below (one I feel is very important to newcomers, the other not) I'd like to politely remind our community that the forum quest guides, as well as the portal wiki needs all of our love. :)

TL;DR: Players please update the Wiki and Quest Guides if you find yourself with time and inclination.

The following format was shamelessly ripped from the forum guides. I wish I had spoiler tags here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Kseskar the Insane needs some work done" - Kseskar the Insane - City of Mist

Spoiler Alert!

Walkthrough

City of Mist was a zone added to the THF line up to alleviate some of the heavy traffic we had during the earlier times of the server when many people were all in the 35-55 zones. Initially it was rather sparse with loot or anything to set it apart, however times have changed and recently City of Mist was given a "face lift" and its own quest/task NPC and set of unique loot.

If you've not been to City of Mist lately, you are highly encouraged to go check it out!

Quest Comments:

For newer players or characters, this quest can be a huge boost in your killing prowess as the rewards are weapons with a decent ratio and a VERY good process for the level they is attainable. The quest is repeatable, so if you want to get a cheap, early attainable #bot weapon, this is also a good outlet.

Quest mob:

Kseskar the Insane ---> Just inside the CoM zone in.

Quest text:

You say, 'Hail, Kseskar the Insane'

Kseskar the Insane says, 'Khe-he-he, whats dos wes sees? A livings oness? Amongs thes deads, thats interestingses ...'

You say,'Why is this so interesting?'

Kseskar the Insane says, 'Not manys livings comes heres, and those dos, become the deads ...'

You say,'You look living enough, why are you here?'

Kseskar the Insane says, 'Khe-he-he, a task I haves .... Needs works dones ... Too much timess takes, not much times I have ... Khe-he-he'

You say,'What is this task you speak of?'

Kseskar the Insane says, 'A new alchemicals poisons I am makings, lots of ingredients must bes collecteds... Very little timesss, no one to help, only the deadsss.. Perhaps, you woulds?'

You say,'Perhaps, I would, what is in it for me?'

Kseskar the Insane says, 'Khe-he-he, I like your ways of thinkings, khe-he-he. The reward will be plentifuls, but much and long work to be dones ...'

You say,'What do I have to do?'

Kseskar the Insane says, 'Mes news alchemicals poisons, the substances I requires come from the slimys abdominals things have. Many of them I requires.. an Spectrals powers needs tos properly enpowers mes news poisons... Brings thems to mes, rewards shalls awaits yous, khe-he-he... '

You have been assigned the task 'Kseskar the Insane needs some work done'.

Suggested level:

40+

The Task:

Acquire 10 Slimy Substances from Goos in City of Mist
Acquire 10 Spectral Essences from mobs in City of Mist
Hail Kseskar the Insane when you have looted them all.

Note: He doesn't take them from you when you are through (as of the time this is posted.)
You must have the quest active to be given credit for looting the items, there is no turn in.

The Reward:

Slime Coated Dirk: http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools/items.php?id=11068

Slime Coated Shard: http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools/items.php?id=11069

Star of the Fallen Zealot: http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools/items.php?id=11070

Note: You can hand the rewards in to cycle through them, but they ARE LORE, so if you do the quest more than once you must advance both items forward to prevent the possibility of losing one.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a sick witheran - Karnor's Castle

Spoiler Alert!

Walkthrough

Karnor's Castle is another zone in the 35-55 range much in the same way as Lower Guk and City of Mist. On average, the NPC's here are a bit higher in level than in the other two zones and it is much easier to get multiple NPC's in a single fight.

Quest Comments:

This quest is fairly easy to accomplish if you are here for the Head Hunter quest, or are doing the other quest that starts in the zone. The rewards are really only useful to some one who desperately needs a healing or spell haste focus, be it either for themselves of a #bot.

Quest Mob:

a sick witheran ---> Just inside the zone in and to the left along the wall.

Quest Text:

You say, 'Hail, a sick witheran'

a sick witheran says, 'Hello brave hero, are you here to help me gather what I need?'

You say,'What do you need?'

a sick witheran says, 'I've travelled far and wide searching for a cure for my illness. My search has ended here, in this castle. Unfortunately my illness has halted my search for a cure. If you could help me I would reward you with my most prized item. Will you help me brave hero?'

You say,'I will help you.'

a sick witheran says, 'Fantastic! I need you to travel deep into the castle and bring 5 mushroom spores, and 5 sack of herbs back to me. Only then will you have earned your reward.'

You have been assigned the task 'a sick witheran'.

Suggested Level:

45-50

The Task:

Collect 5 mushroom spores??
Collect 5 herb of ??
Hand them in UNSTACKED to a sick witheran

The Reward:

Shield of Caring: http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools/items.php?id=13125

Cloak of Selfishness: http://www.thehiddenforest.org/webtools/items.php?id=13147

Note: You trade in the shield to 'a sick witheran' for the cloak, neither items are LORE so you can switch back and forth at will.

I'd like to add the disclaimer that at the time i wrote this, i could not find the quests i logged on the wiki.

As mr. murphy would have it, I found them shortly therafter.

I'll leave this up to edit later, but the original intent is still there.

Please don't forget to put a few minutes of your time into the server, it's what makes this server great.

It's also the suposed name of The Lone Ranger.

When I started playing EQemu I went by this name, using it as my main name on EZ server (for quite a while), and on p99 for a short period of time before I switched to badtouch there. When I started on THF I almost made a ranger and returned to the name, but decided against it and switched to a BST for the swiss-army-knife utility/roles. I don't regret that decision, but man do miss Slay Undead / Fiegn Death from my old mains, and the ability to HEADSHOT, which I never have had a chance to do.

But I digress, i'm a firm believe of "Put into the community, and it will return unto you." I left EZ because of drama / I don't multi-box, thus making the community poor for me. I have yet to regret the decision.
