Just starting-suggestions?

Hey all!

I played around a little bit on the server and found to really enjoy all the content! I'm looking to put some more time into everything just wanted some input from those that have been around for awhile.

I really am only looking to box 1 other character besides my main, giving me a party of 3 with a bot. I was curious on what group make-up you suggest I go with to be able to get the most content done? I would eventually like to join a guild/others, but for now I only play a few hours a week so I'm trying to get the most out of my time spent.

I have read over some guides, but really would enjoy some direct responses.

Thanks in advance!

If I could only box 2, I would choose a Paladin and Shaman with a Rogue bot. Once you get into the raid tiers, it will get tougher without more DPS.

Would it be better to box 3 then? 3 is the most I would be looking to do. Based off of what I have read, you can get to max level pretty quickly so I am trying to get the most out of it all.

If you were going to box 3 I would do a tank of your choice(they all have positives and negatives), a cleric, and a pet class of you choice. Much like the tanks Mages, Necros and Beastlords all have positives and negatives. Mostly a matter of personal preference. I box all 3 of them. I said a pet class as dps because they are easy dps to box with minimal effort. 2 simple hotkeys is all it really takes. One to target mob and attack and the other to pet back off/hold.

The more DPS the better. With limited Defensive discs/clicks, you'll have a time crunch before your tank starts taking a serious beating. And it will get worse in Tier 7+, when most of the boss fights are on a timer.

Ok, cool. Probably would do war, cleric, bst, then what do you think for the bot dps? Are Rogs still top tier dps? I don't know much about the bezerker class.

In all honesty, I wouldn't spend too much time trying to gear a bot. They're pretty poor, the dps bots steal aggro even while doing the tiny bit of dps they put out, they're pretty difficult to control (planting mob all over the place), and they leach a full player's worth of exp while doing 1/50th of what an actual player can do.

They're somewhat decent at healing while you're leveling, and a pally bot does a good job of tanking/mild heals, but they're more hassle than they're worth once you hit 70, get a few defensive AAs and some gear from the 55-70 zones.

As for classes, any of the tanks will suffice. Note that warriors have a lot more access to defensive abilities, and will be able to tank the big guys longer and more often. Knights are great in a pinch or for short fights, and are a lot better at aggro early on. Knights are also great at supplying utility (sk gets a group buff "Death March" that increases dps and adds a heal proc, pallies have some nice stuns and heals). I'd definitely recommend a knight over a warrior in the group game, warriors edging them out against beefier targets.

If you don't choose a paladin as your tank, I'd definitely go with cleric. Druid/shaman are decent at single target heals, but a group without someone who can spam group heals/cures is asking for disaster imo :(

BL is always the dps class I recommend for players new to the server. Unranked T8 pet (buyable from other players) makes it by far the best damager you can find before you get into T8 with rank 3 spells and gear, which is a loooooong time if you're going through the content honestly. Note that the sk also gets an unranked T8 pet which does kinda sorta OK damage early on (probably more than most t3-ish players), but is never used in the upper tiers and might be pricey depending on who you buy it from (doesn't drop off anything, the sk has to purchase it with points earned in HoH.) If that helps :)

I have to agree with Rude on his recommendation. When I started I used a Paladin, BL and Mage. Pally group heals were just enough, and casting its heals still helps with agro. The BL is a hearty pet class, BL can take a little beating and because once your pet character dies his pet dies and you loose 100% DPS. The mage brought more DPS to the fight, however you could sub any class in that spot. I prefer DPS over a primary healer as I rather kill quickly, and in a pinch you can pop your Cleric BOT to help on a Boss mob.

Playing all class's end game my top 3 are Paly - Shmy - Rog / any dps ypu feel like playing.

Paly has the best grp cure and plenty of heal/grp heals for mad agro w/out clicking any ae agro 8-)
Shmy has awesome buffs and debuffs, good heals and later in game can healp with grp heal/cure with a clicky drop
Rog top dps class atm and fun to play, but again choose a dps you would like to run and run with it :D
