Boxing?

Never played on Hidden Forest, but it looks like there is some cool stuff.

Do I have to box my own crew to get anywhere, or are there people that actually play with each other and work together?

Lots box. But you can solo or use a bot to get to 70. For raids you will likely need to box or hook up with a guild.

I would agree that at this point on the server most people box anywhere from 4-24. Most times you are probably going to find it hard to get into a consistent group to play with, however, you will not be lacking of people that will help if you need it. Normally there is one or two higher tiered players that are looking to help out people before they start on something for themselves or if you ask then you normally get multiple responses as long as you are respectful. The only problem is that most of the higher tiered content is guild instanced so a little bit harder to get help in that respect.

You can always try the content and I think it is a wonderful representation of what Everquest can be. There is plenty of lower tiered content to play with if you don't want to rush and get to the "End Game". If you prefer just to get into raiding the upper tiers there are also tokens available to help you bypass all of the early tiers but I think you miss out on a lot of the fun.

I started with one character and a bot and got to 40 before deciding to add another character. It doesn't take long to catch up if you want to add another toon later.

I made it up to T8 with just my warrior, albeit with a lot of help. I had a strong toon, but felt I was becoming a burden during raids. Started boxing, and loved it ever since.

Personally, I advise you, for having maximum pleasure, to make any progress.
And so, to take the time to do your own guild, and learn to box, and make your own macro.

If this is difficult for you, try two players, there are plenty of solutions to advance and having fun.

There are so many people who have burned the wings ... with over power paypal equipments.
Unless, if you are of those who want to play only 3months.

Brief, this 5 years that I make up solo, if not all, to prove that it was possible.
There is some content that needs to be done at the loyal, lots of fun to code and improving everquest.
If you want advise macro, plugins, or even in the c++ abyses, make a PM.

So do not get pressed, and ask the indirect aid.

My thoughts, limited though they are;

First, define for yourself what "anywhere" is. I've been playing here for years, largely solo but occasionally in guilds, and there is still tons of content to play and experience that I have yet to fully engage in. You will get somewhere no matter what you do, and I guarantee it will be fun!

Next, as mentioned, there are lots of people that will help. You can even join or create a guild to progress through the tiers, when the time's right, and you will enjoy the clever changes the devs have built into the game.

Additionally, you can succeed without donor gear, but you can also do much with it. Your choice depending upon your level of play and time to commit. Now, I was always a boxer on live, so boxing here didn't seem to be a negative. Yet, there are few solo players here, but every now and then they come on.

If you want to have fun, experience some interesting content, and play at your pace, this is the place. Everquest has always been about challenges, and finding ways to overcome them. THF is no different, but the community is, by far, better than you will find elsewhere, and always willing to assist.

Would personally advise highly against not boxing at least 1 toon unless you have a friend that logs in at your specific times. You'll probably get pretty discouraged at 70 when you realize half the group content can't be completed with just you and your bot, and most raid content is guild instanced. Adding at least 1 box opens up a ton of content, and it's not terribly difficult to get used to. Heck, boxing just 3-4 can get you very far into raid content using the right classes.

If you are set on going truly solo, pick your class wisely. Some solo a lot better than others, like the beastlord. Pick up a T8 pet from bazaar or a friendly player (I think I have a few in the bank you're welcome to) and it'll destroy things. Grind through the LDoNs using your pet to tank and get your Growl buff (huge dps increase and very large regen buff) and your *huge* pet heal. Eventually when you get your 2.0 your pet will be a tanking machine (adds 50% avoidance, regen, etc.) If anyone is going truly solo, I highly advise that class to all of them :P And if eventually you decide to box more toons, you'll already have your DPS geared and ready to go.

I apologize if this is resurrecting an old post, but I just started on THF this week. I used to two-box all the time, even three box with three physical machines back in the day on Live...but...it's completely unfathomable to me how anyone could possibly box 24. I have to say though, I saw a whole gang of characters yesterday that I had no doubt were being boxed. How is that even possible though? Are there some tools out that make this sort of thing easier? Sorry if that's a total newb or answered question, but I'm just utterly flabbergasted at how that's even possible.

Start boxing 2. Add a 3rd, 4th, up to 6th. Ask for help, feel free to do that! I'm on and the first and last things i do is ask people if they need help or want to group up. DON'T let someone help you too much though. You'll miss so much content and fun questing, which is the whole reason you play this game.

You can get over helped on this server, and before you know it you have passed a bunch of content.

Good Luck and Welcome!
