Saying Hello and a couple of questions.

Hi Everyone :)

And thanks to the THF team, really has brought back some great memories from my
4 years in EQ back at release :)

I'm boxing 3 characters atm (my first ever box and its taken a while to get used to it)
and we are all just about to hit 70.

Im playing Cleric as main with pally bot and the other 2 are druid and shaman.

Seemed like a good choice based on my knowledge of how EQ used to be but im not quite so sure with the wealth of clickies here that can possibly replace certain druid/shaman spells.

Anyway I have them leveled but I guess it wouldnt take too long to level up a replacement.

Cleric and bot are best geared with the bot having priority on AC/HP augs, shes around 14000HP 2600 AC with Sune lv 60 buffs.

I think its time to donate but not sure what to get for the best effect.

Ive also had conflicting views from people in game on what to do at 70, some have said go right to Kael to gear up and others say collect AA first.

Anyway to summarise my questions:

1. is CLR/SHM/DRU with pally bot reasonable boxing or should I swap one out.

2, What to get donor wise, Donor weapon for pally bot was my first thought.

3. What to do next, grind AA or go to kael right now.

Thanks for any help . Lantril

While the bots and especially the tank class bots are great to use to lvl up to 70 they are not viable for use after that. Bots cannot use any disc or clickies items, so you will never be able to defensive disc on your tank which is what really makes him a tank. I would suggest replacing one of the healers with a real tank. I would also suggest replacing yet another healer with a real dps class b/c again the dps bots are going to fall off quickly post 70 compared to a PC.

Id get some AAs before you try to take on kael. Those giants hit hard and you will need at least some if not all of your combat agility and combat stability type AAs to survive post 70 content dmg.

Sticky

what sticky said.

If you want to progress ingame, as a tribox set up , you must have 1 tank 1 dps 1 healer + a DPS bot ( rogues are the coolest one )
if you box a single tank, I would use a shm , since the clerics are mainly used for group heals.

if I had to star over I think I would go : War / Shm / Monk + rogue bot

Like what has been said, you need 1 tank, 1 healer, 1 dps + bot.
1) - would leave the druid and get a tank since bot are great but have no aa or disc.
2) I would leave shaman for a dps class : bard (nice dps and boost others) or another one
3) I would keep cleric cause best heals and grp heals since you box 3+bot.
4) Use a bot rogue.

Depending on the class you keep, donor depends. Choose donor depending of what you chose to play and not the other way round. Have fun playing and donor will make it better.

I am surprised firenze didnt talk about bards instead of monks lol : he is a bard fanatic!

Righto, thanks for the advice.

A little annoying, I should have posted sooner, but anyway heh :)

Ive decided to keep the cleric and shelve him for now.

Meanwhile ill level up a warrior and a dps (probably bard as i never played one so it will be interesting) and use a cleric bot to keep them healed while they level.

Ill save rogue gear as I go along.

Then at 70 ill switch to Cleric+ Warr+ Bard with rogue bot.

Im a bit dubious about boxing 2 melees though, seems like it might be kinda tricky.

Ill see how it goes :)

Thanks again.

Good choice but no need to use a cleric bot to level because it will "steal" xp of your 2 toons. Just have your cleric outside the group to heal if needed (if you dont use mq you can have 2 hotkeys on cleric : /target warriorname /cast yourheal and same for bard).
Big advantage of bard is that with /melody 1,2..... it will sing all the time the songs you want (better not sing too many because of missed notes etc) then when you have your mobs at camp, just have a hotkey /assist and thats it. Bard requires far less attention than other dps class to deal descent dmg.

I myself never had a bard and now that I have one I like it and its not that hard to play one in a descent way.

About donor, lets see if you enjoy that combo then we can give you advice if you want.

Well Wargirl and Shakespear are coming along nicely now, just dinged 40.

Added the rogue bot when I went into Guk, gave her a full set of the quest armour from Crushbone together with a serrated bone dagger and the rogue epic 1.0.

She certainly adds DPS, so much so that I have trouble keeping aggro with Wargirl despite spamming taunt and provoke as much as possible. My 70 cleric keeps her alive of course but I feel I should be doing better with the tank.

Bard is ok, seems like mobs are almost dead thoough before I even get him engaged.

Im running 4 songs atm, the one that heals, one that increases attack rate, one that improves AC and one that slows nearby enemies, not sure I notice much effect really.

Pulling singles fine using his lull type song, looking forward to his fade ability later.

50 tommorow hopefully.

Perfect. Dont worry you will get aggro in time over your rogue. The more often you box, the better you become. Keep it up ;)
