Stats discussion

I would like to initiate a discussion about some point : equipment adding stat.

Let's take an example : Bracer of Frost

Let's focus on "alteration +21%".

As a cleric, I have multiple items with this kind of stat. According to THF rules, the highest wins. So if I have 4 items with "alt + xxx %", only one would work.

Sounds like a waste to me.

If the item adding stat was reduced drastically (for example 5%) but ALL the items count. So in fact, you would have a :
  • (alteration 200 + 5%) + 5%) + 5%) + 5%) = 243
  • OR : (alteration 200 + 20%) = 240

Of course, there will be a cap to the stat. That would make all the items usefull.
Here I've taken an example with a skill mod, but it could be other stats, like dmg, focus, etc...

I know it would be more trouble... hmmm work for the dev team, sorry for that ;)

I think it's a nice idea in theory but yes, it would take an enormous amount of work to change.

I think the current system is OK as it means you need to put thought into equipping your characters. It's a nightmare to manage across multiple characters but that is a price most boxers happily pay. I believe an easier route to help players adequately manage their foci is for players to regularly report shortfalls in itemisation so that the Dev team can modify the items that need to be changed.

These shortfalls still exist and we try to report them when we can and so far Vaion had been great at updating various items.

One shortfall I've come across is my paladin has no access to dark swiftness until t9. I'll post more detail when I can as I'm at work now. It does take a bit of effort from us as we need to help research which foci are lacking and find a suitable list of items that could be changed without negatively impacting another class's foci distribution.

So if we find too many items have cold foci on them, one could be changed to provide another foci that is lacking elsewhere.
