Lag DSK3

Tonight in DSK3, fighting the 2nd boss, My 6 man team DC'ed. 10:04 CST. People discussed that the server was like that all day. I have Fiber to my house for work, with a backup battery system. It doesn't go down. My laptop is a 6mo. old Falcon NW with all the trimmings.

We could really-really-really use some relief from the lag monster. It's killing our raid force with less and less people logging in because they can't stay connected.

Last night in DSK3 On 3rd boss with 17 people or so, boss was at 9%, we didn't miss any "events" or such. We had a guildie join us late in the fight, the boss healed to 95% and started hitting for 25k.

Its been a while since I look at THF hardware but I just looked and I see we are using a 15k rpm hdd for the main server. Would switching to SSD help?

Not really. This is not a hardware performance issue at all.

We are working on some code optimizations from the EQEmu base code that will hopefully help overall performance. It has been awhile since we updated with EQEmu (except a few fixes here and there), so it is taking quite awhile to get caught up again.

The first iteration of changes is set to go live within the next few days. Players probably will not see much change since the coding only makes a few changes structure wise in the code so that we could update quicker. Additionally in the upcoming update, Aura visuals are being turned off (Buffs will continue running). We isolated some latency issues with the visual data packets when they were being transferred back and forth between clients and the server. So until we get a chance to fix it, we will just be turning them off.

We want everyone to know that the performance issues are our #1 priority going into 2015. While it is not something that can be fixed overnight (unless we get really lucky), it is something that we are continuously working on because we know how annoying and aggravating it is not to be able to get your THF fix  Trust me, I recently moved and have been running off dial up and averaging 2,800-4,000 ping until I get my real internet set up.
