The Hidden Forest

Hi, I am brand new... I know nothing about bots, I tried quickly to make one work last night, but I had trouble getting one to spawn... honestly, I am not super sure that I want a bot, I am trying to get my wife to play with me and was hoping that the two of us could play together without having to have a bot with us.

Is it possible to play on your server without having a bot and without having to go to the Alternate progression route where they dial down the intensity? I am looking for a server to play on with just my wife and I, where it is still a challenge but not so much as original EQ was. I dont mind having to pull one mob at a time and really not interested in making max level in 2 days... =)

You guys seem really nice and to be fair, I will say that I am looking at EZ server also, but havent made a decision yet (and I know about as much about them as I do about you all... and both servers seem to have nice players)... But I have to decide where to go by today because my wife (a WoW junkie) agreed to play tonight and if I get her going, then I cant hop servers cause she will lose interest lol so once I pick a server I have to stick with it. I did play on your server last night and a guy jumped in and PL'd me to level 14... and it was fun, but I got a bit overwhelmed honestly and I felt like I was passing up on some of the details that I enjoy so I will think I will have to start over, especially since I will have my wife with me.

Honestly the only thing holding me back from THF is having to manage having a bot with me all the time... but then I really dont know what I am talking about when it comes to bots.... maybe I could be wrong? I guess I fear that it would feel like cheating if I had a bot with me? To bot or not to bot... that is the question.. hehe

bot control is very simple actually, but boils down to which class is it.
The leveling up to 70 is tuned around a DUO power - so its either a player+bot, or a player duo- will be FINE. If you try to go just by yourself- you will be SMACKED

with duo+bot you will be more than fine =)

look into BOt section of the forum- guides are there

so choose what classes you will two playing, and choose a bot to support you

Also, should you have any issues while the two of you are online, questions or otherwise, 90% of the time, I'm online on my Game Master toon. I'm more than willing to help the both of you out with certain things. You'll find GM support like no other server has here with us

Thanks, checked out but only browsed it for now, will read it fully later today when I have more time. I would like to try it out and give it a fair shake though...

also I am feeling like I like the set up on this server... some good imagination went into creating the whole hidden forest zone... I likes it precious.. lol feels like a roleplay type thing. =)

You're absolutely right on several levels. I actually liked bots and push for them. I dislike them now, but since they are here to stay, they should get my attention. Also, bots are confusing. The amount of commands, how they work etc. I take full responsibility for this aspect.

However, I think you'll be pleased to know that we are working on a new tutorial aspect of the server that will fully explain those functions. In addition, I'm also planning to reduce the need for so many confusing commands and make things a little more simple with bots.

The server is certainly doable without a bot but many have elected to use them out of convenience. I think you'll find this home more than satisfactory. You have a dedicated staff who really looks out for their players. Often, you will see old, worn out content sit and rot while new higher end content is being prepared. That is not the case here. We want every aspect of the game to be enjoyable and provide you a unique, but somewhat similar feel that you remember and love.

I like to say that - melee bots are very straight forward and require minimum attention.. as long as their hps are above 0

In most cases, paladin is your best bot-friend you ever get, it tanks, taunts like entire army, and it heals itself. With paladin bot you can pretty much play any other class around which can contribute some DPS (if you playing a healer yourself, you can go with more offensive meleers like warrior or monk, or even mage/bst with pet)

Its the caster bots who need to be micromanaged, and healer just outright nightmare atm.

I agree, paladin bots are the $hitz, my bot Methenel is mostly in Tier2 gear (w/ a PoAir lance) , and he absolutely offtanks like a champ!

Thanks for all the advice. I have been playing a Ranger (Nephi) and its been a blast... He is lvl 47 (I think) atm. I think I (mostly) have the bot thing down now, rolled a pally and I generally do each quest twice... once for myself and once so that I can give the reward to my bot. I often solo, but when I really want to get through something quickly or take down a tougher mob, I will bring out the bot.

Anyway, I am settled in on this server, I have tried many others and none of them seem to have the innovation and attention to detail that this server has... hats off to the GM staff
